Ignoring the fact that most of these aren't in or near Detroit, it's a pretty good list. My rankings would be something like
1) Founders
2) Right Brain
3) Bells
4) Kuhnhenn
5) Shorts
6) Dark Horse
Jolly Pumpkin's food is better than their beer IMO. Arcadia is pretty uninteresting. I've barely had any New Holland, and no B Nektar (I've never tried mead). I know a lot of people who love Dragonmead but I've never been too impressed by their stuff.
Founders is far and away the best beer in MI (and my favorite brewery overall as well). I would have said Bells until a couple years ago, but I think that they've changed their recipes since enlarging their distribution footprint. Two Hearted just doesn't taste the same as it used to. Shorts is great, but for every beer they make that's awesome, they make another 2 that are boring or bad. I think Right Brain is really underrated and I hope they get more recognition in the next few years.
edit: and other great breweries that got left off the list: Blackrocks, Arbor Brewing, Round Barn, Keewenaw Brewing
