Any have a nice set? What should you look for in terms of quality etc? Anywhere online to go?

Unless you're looking for a particular logo to be on it, most of them are basically the same in my experience.  Find an 11.5g set you like and go for it.

500 chip set good enough for most home tourneys? I think that's what some of the other guys I've played with have.

Yeah that should be plenty unless you've got more than 10 or so people

I have a nice one that I got as a gift for being in a wedding.  There's also one here where I work that we had made as gifts that I'm thinking about swiping... but that one would have our old company logo on it.

I'm not sure of the brand or type of either.

Fuck... this was a worthless post.

Haha...

I played with nice poker chips when I had a home tourney a couple years ago. The only thing I noticed about them was that they were heavy. I don't know shit like the exact proper weight or whatever, so yeah, my post is worthless, too.

If they were heavier than cheap Bicycle chips you'd buy at a grocery store, they were probably 11.5g.  That's not some special "professional weight" or anything, it's just what most kits are

I figured. I think we got them at Target, so I'm guessing it's not hard to find "good" chips.

I'm going to run to the Mall Of America this week and check out some of the game stores to see what they have. I've found a couple sets on Amazon that look reasonable. A Trademark set and a Da Vinci set (both look pretty much the same). I think the set the people I play with is the Trademark.

Apparently if you're fancy, you can get Paulson chips. It'd be sort of cool to find some different color ones though, rather than the standard white, red, blue, black.

That's the one we have at work too, only with our logo on it.

Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.

After some compulsive research and a stop at a local internet chip dealer with a tiny local store (just a storefront really) I think I'm going to end up starting to put together a set of Chinese Paulson knock offs.

And for a starter set (and for side games) I think I might get a set of Sopranos. Although I'm not as keen now that I know the history of the chip, but it's still a cool design, pretty inexpensive, and they feel good.

I may have just found a new collection habit.

I use to play at a lot of poker rewards sites and have free sets ranging from the ones with the metal inserts all the way to a set of real Pauslon chips. I prefer the Paulsons since they are identical to the ones I play with in the casinos but they obviously cost quite a bit.

These Paulson knockoffs look pretty good. I use to go to www.chiptalk.net for poker chip information.
