I've been hanging out there for the last few days. I just placed an order for a set of Six stripe Sopranos and a set of china clays.  I'm going to start looking for used Paulsons on ebay and such but I think I'll be just fine with the knock-offs for a while.

I'll take pics when they come. Hopefully later this week.

Still cheaper than my guitar collecting habit. (and takes up less space)

I have a tendency to be compulsive at times.

I wait long periods of time to work on my high end audio hobby.  Working on a set of Wilson Sophia 2 speaks.  Probably be three or four more years.  Want to have the cars paid off and the next two in the bank before I spend that kind of cash on a hobby.

I dunno if those knockoffs are similar material/texture as the Paulsons. But when I first got mine, I rubbed every chip with a good amount of mineral oil. It really brings out the color and shine.

Not exactly the same material. The Paulsons are stiffer and harder to break but they feel pretty close (for less money). I think you can use mineral oil on them, I've seen some examples and I'll probably try a few and see how it turns out. The Soprano ones are pretty bright to start with, the knock offs are dull (at least the samples I saw).

The Da Vinci clays (china knock offs) came today!

Here's the shots of everything.

These are the Sopranos we played with last weekend. The chips are great, but the blue and black are too close together in dim light. I think I'm going to change the black or blue to orange instead.

I got a set of 650 but the case is more like a 750 or 800. I think I'll probably just get a 300ct set so I can get a smaller case for traveling and it's cheaper to get the alternate chips.

And here are the Da Vinci (china) dual 4 spot clays.

I got a set of 500 for my home games, but didn't know if I'd like black or not or if it would be too close to the purples. I like the blue, purple, orange, gray, so the blacks will probably go on the shelf for now or become part of another set later or higher denominations if we're playing a longer game.

Nice looking set. They look very similar to my Paulsons.

I have a set of 500 in these colors:
Green $25 - 200 count
Black $100 - 200 count
Purple $500 - 50 count
Orange $1000 - 50 count

They work well for cash games and tournaments. For cash games we make the values in cents. I like the denominations on the chips because I was tired of folks asking what chip is worth what. Scales real well and had a tourney with 30 people one time using these combination of chips.

Ya, they're designed to mimic the Casino De Isthmus Paulsons. They are pretty good for a third the money. I liked the non-denominational because I didn't like the color order of the 25,100,500,1000 chips and it allows me to run different sorts of value games.

I did the 25,100,500,1000 setup (with 8/13/7/5 for T10,000) last weekend and it worked out OK. The second round we just did T5000 dropping the 1000s and it was pretty good too (probably do that in the future). After reading a ton about chip stacks, I think that worked out pretty well. I got some guff from one of the guys who usually plays 5,10,25,100 but I think it's just more about chip efficiency what the values are. I want to try a round of 5,25,100,500 sometime just to see the difference and I think not having denominations is better than having them and trying to tell people something that doesn't match (but I guess that would just mean I'd need more sets of chips right?). I learned my lesson switching out blacks for grays the second round and that was much too confusing. (and I sort of knew it was going to be a problem)

I think I'm going to try and label a few and see how that goes.

When I figure out everything, like values and counts and stuff I'm going to get a 300 or 500 set of custom ones from apachepokerchips.com I think. Or just go with their private card room NCV set.

Hahah yeah i remember use to play in this game where the there were like 7-8 different chip colors with no denominations on them. It confused everybody even the regular players.

Um, so I splurged on a set of chips to celebrate my new job since the guitar I planned to buy seems to have sold. :(

I got a few sample sets from apachepokerchips.com and order a set of the Bahamia casino chips. It's a 300 set of the 5's, 25's and 100's. Apparently the 1's and 500's are pretty tough to find. I think it should work nice as a small home set.

Pretty much these, but no plaques.
