Yo.
Chinese brand. Gaining in popularity the last five years or so due to their pricing. Typically they lack in some features, however their image quality has really been what keeps them out of full fledged direct competition with Visio, Samsung, and the like. A couple similar brands are HiSense, Sceptre, and Changhong. The latter being the Samsung of China.
4K is not ready for prime time yet in that it simply lacks content. It is coming, however by the time we have a real library of 4K content you will probably considering a new TV. That said, 4K sets have really done a great job of forcing manufacturers to incorporate significantly better CPU/GPU combinations. Allowing for faster clearer pictures, better app performances, and decreased glitches and temperature issues. In that the 4K televisions are becoming fairly reasonably priced, do please consider them beyond the 4K panel alone. Smart TV is not a need, however the quality of a non-Smart TV is in the dumps these days. It simply is not where the manufacturers spend money on quality and durability.
If I were going to recommend/purchase a brand it would be either Visio or Samsung. It would be smart and probably a 4K. 55" to 60". That is the prime real estate for a quality set at this time.
Curved or flat? Curved decreases on axis reflections while decreasing off axis picture quality. So the environment and use dictates whether this is a good idea.
