I need to know if we want to do a Live draft again.  I thought that worked out well last year.

I'm in.  Live draft was cool.

I'd like to play but I really don't know how it all works..
Title: Re: Fantasy Football '06
Post by: Govtcheez on August 02, 2006, 07:04:39 PM
I'd like to do a live draft, but it's not a necessity.  It's more fun that way, anyways.

stealth: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fantasy_football_(American)  - there are also all sorts of places to get info on the web.  If you've got any specific questions, go ahead and ask.

Like I mentioned on cprog, I'm totally nerding out this year and compiling a bunch of last year's stats for some ease of scouting.  I'll post it when I'm done.

Finally, the first regular season game is September 7th, so we can use that to plan our draft time.

I just made the thread yesterday ;)  I'll probably wait at least a week to make the league on yahoo.

I'll give it a whirl.
I understand the basics - but I've never been in a FFL before, so this should be fun.

You understand the basics of the game or FFL?
Title: Re: Fantasy Football '06
Post by: Govtcheez on August 03, 2006, 02:02:22 PM
If anyone's intimidated, don't be.  We're not all that hardcore about this - people just have fun with it.

I just realized - this is going to be the first year without RoD :(

He's banned from cprog, but i don't know why he's not around here anymore.

oh, I'm a huge football fan. That I get.

I've just never been in a Fantacy Football League before, so while I understand the how they work, I was just saying that I'm new to the specific procedures involved in any given "league"

oh... cool.  I was scared that there was an American male that didn't understand the game ;)  (-Ken- and DK excluded.. haha)

It's easy.  Don't worry.

cool; i'm in guys - I don't know how it will work out with my schedule this year but
hopefully I'll find a coule minutes each week to make substitutions and such. Live
draft is out of the question for me, so if you decide to do it, give me at least three
days from the creation of the league and the live draft to set my preferences for
the picks.

:)

I still need a vote on live draft vs. non-live (whatever that would be called).
Title: Re: Fantasy Football '06

Have a live one... I won't participate... but I will set up my draft choices.
Title: Re: Fantasy Football '06
Post by: ober on August 12, 2006, 11:12:24 PM
Why won't you participate?  It only takes about 30-45 min, and that was with a few people missing last time.
Title: Re: Fantasy Football '06
Post by: kermi2 on August 13, 2006, 08:32:18 AM
I vote live if we can do it...

What do you all think about trying a new site?  I was looking at Flea Flicker (http://www.fleaflicker.com/welcome.do) and it looks pretty cool.  I like it because it has some of the bonus features Yahoo offers (detailed stats and online scoring) but it's completely free....

Of course if I am available, I will.  Depends on when you have it.  I cannot do it from work.
Title: Re: Fantasy Football '06
Post by: ober on August 13, 2006, 06:38:06 PM
I'd imagine we'd do it in the evening... it doesn't appear that we have anyone from other countries participating, so I think we could schedule it within the 4 timezones of the states.
Title: Re: Fantasy Football '06
Post by: PJYelton on August 13, 2006, 07:54:13 PM
All right, I'll join, if for no other reason than to beat Kermi for cheating me out the championship last year.  I still think you had something to do with Gato's injury to keep him from scoring the 3 more points I needed to beat you last year ;)

Only thing I would change would be to have 10 receiving yards = 1 pt just like rushing yards.

Oh, and live draft works for me, as long as its the weekend or during an evening.
Title: Re: Fantasy Football '06
Post by: kermi3 on August 13, 2006, 08:10:05 PM
Might I suggest 15 yards per recieving point?  I think it strikes a slightly better balance...I had that in a league alst eyar and it worked real well.  WR's are worth more, but it doesn't make things REAL different...Another idea, what if WR's got 1/2 a pt for each catch they made.  That might even things out some.

(Anyone have any thoughts on http://www.fleaflicker.com/ ?)
Title: Re: Fantasy Football '06

That actually looks pretty cool.  Anyone else care if we switch to that?

How about Sunday Sept 3rd?  I know it's not too ling before the season starts...but that way we'll be sure no one drafts Clinton Protis and expects him to play...
Title: Re: Fantasy Football '06 [UPDATE - read first post]
Post by: kermi3 on August 16, 2006, 12:57:16 AM
Do we always count the number of tackles?  And is 1 pt per 10 yards rushing and recieving too much?  Haven't we done 20 yards int eh past and 50 yards for passing (which might be too high I dunno...)...

Have you preset the number of players we have?  I thought I remembered starting 2 RBs and 3 WRs in the past...

I'm with kermi on the tackles thing.  That's just weird to score, even though it looks like it's only for offensive guys.  I'm cool with the yardage on WR/RB though.  20/50 is just too damn high.

I'm moving the weekend of the 26th, so please not that weekend.  I'd prefer a weekday, actually.

Post by: PJYelton on August 16, 2006, 12:38:38 PM
All right, the corndogs are in.  Game on!

The only things I would change (all just my opinion of course) would be to up QB's to 1pt per 30 yards instead of 20 yards to make it more like 300 yards passing == 100 yards receiving/rushing.  Also I agree the whole tackles thing is weird for defense.  I like the idea of that flex position, but to make it more strategic I'd recommend adding a second rushing spot so that there's 2 running backs, 2 receivers, 1 TE, 1 flex.  Otherwise the flex will just always be a running back since I can't imagine a situation where it would be better to start a third receiver over a second rusher.

We've never done this before but anyone interested in playing in a Pick'em league as well?  You know, pick the winners of each game type of thing.  Would be fun, but it would require everyone to make picks every week because if you miss a week you're screwed.

If you still have an odd number the day before the draft, let me know and I'll join. I'm already in the cprog league and one is plenty for me, but I don't mind helping you folks out here. That is, if you consider a loss better than a bye.

I wonder if 30 seconds is too short to make draft picks, if I remember last year it often took 30 seconds just for the person to realize it was their turn.

Title: Re: Fantasy Football '06 [UPDATE - read first post]
Post by: charlie on August 20, 2006, 03:30:45 PM
90 seconds is kinda long if everybody's done a live draft before. It gets kinda annoying when people use the whole time every time on purpose. I had one guy in a baseball league spend 89 of the 90 seconds before making the pick, then mention on the chat that he was definitely going to pick one of two guys the whole time, and the guy he didn't pick was already picked the spot before. Punk.

But if you've got people new to live drafts, 90 seconds isn't bad. They can get a little confusing, and the people who are ready to pick earlier can still do so, so it works out fine. At least that's been my experience.

Will people that do not show end up using the whole time to pick (autodraft)?  If so, I suggest only a minute.

Post by: PJYelton on August 28, 2006, 02:11:19 PM
This will be interesting with so many teams, we're all going to be starting some serious no-namers or part-timers.  You figure on a football bye week theres only like 24-28 running backs even playing yet we need 24 so that everyone can start two.  This league will likely come down to whoever gets that really smart/lucky sleeper pick in the late rounds since there will be so few players left afterwards to even potentially pick up off waivers.
Title: Re: Fantasy Football '06
Post by: kermi3 on August 28, 2006, 04:28:18 PM
Yea, this is going to be tough with some many people.  Going to have to be quick on the waiver too...should be interesting...stark contrast to the cp.com which only has 7 (needs 1 more).
Title: Re: Fantasy Football '06
Post by: Cshot on August 28, 2006, 05:26:21 PM
I normally play in 12 team leagues and the starters should still be pretty decent. I've played in some 14-16 team leagues and it gets pretty bad when you're forced to start backup RBs and #3 or #4 WRs.

You're pretty heavy on average-to-okay QBs.  You've got a decent receiving corps, and Stallworth was traded to Philly today, so that should help him out.

Man, watching Carson Palmer tonight makes me wished I had draft him, can't remember if he was still around though for my second pick.  For some reason the site doesn't show the draft order or who picked who when.

Got a lot of unproven sleepers on my team but few big names, either gonna score a lot or gonna score zilch.

-edit- nevermind found where they list the draft picks, I could have had him with either my second OR third pick, D'OH!

Title: Re: Fantasy Football '06
Post by: kermi3 on August 29, 2006, 06:39:40 AM
Thanks.

I know it's a bit late, but I was just looking at the rules, and I don't understand why a passing TD is only worth 4 points.  A TD is a TD:  6 pts.  I can see the bonus for 60+ yard plays.  Having them worth only 4 pts puts even more emphasis on the running game, and RBs are just as likely to get TDs and more likely to score big points with 1 pt per 10 yards (vs 1 per 30) than QBs.

Title: Re: Fantasy Football '06
Post by: charlie on August 29, 2006, 01:05:45 PM
I don't mind, it sounds interesting. What does that entail? We would still play everybody once and three people twice, right? Is it possible to make three divisions of four teams, so you play everybody in your division twice, or would that make things too complicated?
Title: Re: Fantasy Football '06
Post by: ober on August 29, 2006, 01:16:57 PM
We can make up to 4 divisions.  It could be interesting... I just never really thought we'd consider it, so I didn't bring it up.

I wouldn't mind making QB TDs worth 6 points. But we've already drafted based on the scoring rules that were set. I would have adjusted my draft strategy accordingly if I knew TDs were worth 6 pts beforehand.

From what I've seen, it's pretty much a no-no in most leagues to change the rules after the draft.
Title: Re: Fantasy Football '06
Post by: ober on August 29, 2006, 01:45:57 PM
well... ?  I already changed it.  If 2 points per passing TD is going to make that much of a difference to you, I suggest you start a poll to make a decision.
Title: Re: Fantasy Football '06

Title: Re: Fantasy Football '06
Post by: PJYelton on August 29, 2006, 01:50:50 PM
I like the idea of divisions, 4 divisions would make divisions of only 3 teams which might be a little odd though.

I agree with CShot however on the QB thing, although I should have picked up Palmer anyways one of the reasons I didn't was because of the 4 pts.  Thats actually pretty standard for leagues since even an average QB will score more TD's than all but the top two running backs.  But I promise not to bitch though if I get outvoted :D
Title: Re: Fantasy Football '06
Post by: Cshot on August 29, 2006, 02:10:43 PM
Yeah, I considered that. I make my draft cheatsheets based on the scoring rules. So every league I'm in, I have a different sheet.

But, I won't kill the fun if everyone wants it to be 6 pts. I'll live. This type of thing happens all the time though. Changing scoring rules and allowing bogus trades to go through often kill many leagues especially for ones with money involved.

All right, I'll start a poll. Let's see if I remember how to make one heheh

If I click on the "Trades" tab, then click on the "My Trades" link, it shows up.

The deal is this:

Charlie's Fog Ballers gets:

kermi's a douchebag kermi's a douchebag gets

Westbrook is rated higher than Owens, plus you get depth at receiver. I like Westbrook, and I think that either Moulds or Clayton (or both) will have a good year.

That's probably the best I can do.

Just matters for playeroffs I guess.  I don't know if I like it or not....course some of that has to do with the otehr people in my league....

Actually, the more I think about it, I don't know if I'm really a fan of the idea.  There are 12 of us, and the chances are some people are going to slack off and quit really doing anything.  That's always been an advantage for someone if they are playing that person.  With divisions, it becomes a much bigger deal if if people slack off.  If 2 people slack off, then the other 2 people in the division can walk into the playoffs even if they are at the bottom of the rest of the league.

Ok... I also got an email from the site... The number of times we play division teams is configurable, so I changed it to be that we play division teams twice.  I can also configure the teams in the divisions, so if someone thinks they're unfair, i can move them around.

Thoughts?

Meh, since theres no way to get around having unbalanced schedules with or without divisions I really don't think it makes a difference Kermi.  I'm guessing the three division winners advance and then the next best three advance, so the only way it matters is if a division winner would have finished 7th or lower without divisions.  Looking at how they are setup now each division has at least one person who will be paying attention the entire year so it should be fair.

do you have to play in real time??
Title: Re: Fantasy Football '06
Post by: charlie on September 04, 2006, 11:52:25 PM
No, there's no real time stuff. You only have to check your lineup once or twice a week. Watch players on your team and make sure they aren't injured, or not playing for the week (most weeks there are a few NFL teams and their players that don't play due to a bye week).

So I'd check your team once on Mondays when you're at work. Make sure everybody on your team who is not on the bench will play the following week. See if anybody on your team is injured or playing really shitty. If they are, then waive them and find another guy at the same position who is ranked really high.

The whole process takes 5 - 30 minutes depending on how involved you want to be. Then you check back on Thursday or Friday and make sure nobody got injured in the week and you're good to go. If you don't recognize the players, just go by their ranks and you'll be competitive enough.

Sorry, internet's been shit at home (we just moved and have had a bunch of problems) and I haven't been at my office lately.  I'll give a counter offer tonight - however, 2 starters for 3 bench players isn't exactly something I'm going to jump out of my seat for.

Those projections aren't very good and look to be pretty heavily biased towards last years stats.  I've got two starting rookie running backs (Bell and Lundy) that they gave a combined 3.8 points to and somehow I doubt they predict two starters will combine for less than 40 yards.

By the way, I contacted fleaflicker about the setup for getting into the league.  If you click the link in my signature right now, and then click on most anything else, you'll get a "page does not exist" type error.  Apparently the link should be like this:

http://www.fleaflicker.com/showLeague.do?leagueId=3952&persist=leagueId

I'll update my sig to reflect that.  This does appear to make the problem go away.

You do?  What the hell is wrong with you?

edit: You're going to kill Brian Urlacher, aren't you?  That's the only way I can see this happening.  You kill Brian Urlacher and accidentally kill everyone on the team except Kyle Orton.

Damn, thats an ass whoopin'.  I still can't believe ober passed(??) on Tomlinson for Stephen Jackson.  Must have been the same logic that had him pick the Texans in the elimator pool.

PJ - I'd be interested in Bulger. Send me an offer and we'll see if we can work something out.

Cheez - Can't see a trade right now that'd work out for both of us. Perhaps later in the season.

Argh, ok, another complaint about Fleaflicker, they don't post news on players like Yahoo did.  I had no idea Bell got benched, and I lost by less than 2 FREAKING POINTS!
Title: Re: Fantasy Football '06
Post by: charlie on September 25, 2006, 11:32:17 AM
I hear ya ober. Besides govt fleecing me by taking Westbrook (although Stover outperforming Rackers has been a nice surprise), I actually played Kurt Warner over Carson Palmer in the CProg league. Palmer was playing the Steelers defense, and Warner had outperformed him over the first two weeks. Great idea, right? Well, Palmer did get held to under 200 yards, except he threw for a meager four fucking touchdowns. Plus, I played Donte Stallworth since the "news" said he'd likely play. He didn't. Bitch!

I hate FF. I had Hasselbeck in my main league and started Chris Henry and Holt alongside him (that's 8 TDs right there!). I beat every team by at least 30-40 points except for the team I was facing. All his players were on fire including his kicker Kasay (20 pts).

I'm now 1-2 in that league while having the highest point total and the most points against :(

well at least my opponent here benched Portis this week

Please make Brian Westbrook play tonight and get all the touches that Donte Stallworth normally would so I can beat Charlie in both leagues.  I think you owe me, because the Lions lost (shocker!), the Spartans lost to U of fucking Illinois, and you saw fit to have the Tigers swept by the Royals, a team which they had lost one game to previously, so that they lost the AL Central.  You owe me, you son of a bitch.

BTW, this is to everyone, I have a butt load of decent WR's, I'm open to suggestions to trade any of them for a running back who gets an average amount of carries (ie NOT I-got-40%-of-my-season-yards-on-one-80-yard-carry Norwood).

So if you need a wide receiver, either make me an offer or let me know you are interested and I'll take a look at your team.

Yes, don't have much time to look at the moment but I'd probably at least consider Pennington + Good RB (McGahee, James, Foster) or Grossman + ok RB (Gore, Green) for Bulger + any WR.  Not insterested in Barlow.

Sorry Charlie, Henry is a bust.  Maybe McAllister or Williams?

Hey Ober... in case you don't check in on CProg, I've got a trade offer for you in that league. Feel free to change it. I think you could use Gonzales, so if the guy I picked isn't what you want to give up then just pick somebody else.

Good luck with that. :p
Title: Re: Fantasy Football '06
Post by: ober on October 05, 2006, 01:58:38 PM
umm... for what you wanted in return, it wasn't worth it.  And my TE's are doing just about as good as Gonzales, so why trade for him?  Trust me, I pondered the decision for a worthy number of ticks on the clock.

>> for what you wanted in return, it wasn't worth it
I said to pick anybody on your team that you'd take Gonzales for, my trade proposal was for a guy who was on your bench at the time.

>> And my TE's are doing just about as good as Gonzales, so why trade for him?
Umm... because of those three TE, which do you think will improve as the season continues? (Note: Gonzales has more yards in three weeks than the other two have in four, his QB went out in week one with a concussion but will probably be returning soon, while his backup QB Matthew Perry just found his form this past week, and he has been one of the top three TEs for years.)

I'm not trying to fleece you, I'm just saying that this is a great opportunity for you to improve your team. Trade a bench RB or WR who isn't helping you anyway, for a real upgrade at another position. It works for me because I have two top-notch tight ends.

I guess I'll just have to wait for somebody else's (or my) TE to get injured. :dunno:

By soon I mean the next few weeks, which is what I thought they said in the Chiefs-Niners game last weekend. Originally they thought he might play in week 3 or 4. This is why I still have him as my backup in the Sink league.

Damn, I thought the Bulger trade was unfair as hell for a second there, I didn't realize that Bulger has been tearing it up almost as much as Pennington...interesting.
I'm banking on the fact that the Jets have the much easier schedule the rest of the way and that Bulger doesn't have pass happy Martz anymore.  Even if Pennington's nancy arm falls off and Bulger has a big year I had to do this, my team sucked so bad having Jamal Lewis and his geriatric walker as my only pure starting running back.  With these trades my average per game has jumped 25 points AND I have decent backups now.  Plus Alexander is coming back in a couple of weeks :D
Title: Re: Fantasy Football '06
Post by: Cshot on October 06, 2006, 04:35:59 PM
Perhaps he was mentioning the fact that it was unfair on my end. I was willing to take the gamble because I have enough RB depth to give away Foster (PJ also has Williams so that'll guarantee him a Carolina starter if either one of them go down). Hopefully the Rams will open up their offense a bit more and this will pay off for me. Will also be interesting to see how long Penny can keep this level of play up.

Title: Re: Fantasy Football '06
Post by: Cshot on October 09, 2006, 08:51:02 PM
<--- Not a true champ but yeah, i know the feeling. In another league i had the 2nd highest and faced off against the highest point total a couple weeks ago! I remember getting 5 TDs from Hasselbeck but his entire team was on fire including a 20+ performance from his kicker.

Might drop to 1-4 in that league even with one of the highest and most consistent point totals every week. That's fantasy football for ya.

:p In case you haven't noticed waiver order is always in reverse of your place in the standings.  Don't know why you are still #1 though, I assumed it went by record then points scored which would place you third overall instead.  Must go overall record then division record then points scored.

What do you guys think of fleaflicker so far, by the way?  My only bitch is the lack of fucking news.  I do like a lot of the features though.
Title: Re: Fantasy Football '06
Post by: PJYelton on October 11, 2006, 01:40:36 PM
I like it with the exception of the lack of news and the lack of sorting capabilities when searching players.  Like for example its tough to find up and coming players who did well in week 5 because I have to keep sifting through the people who peaked at week 1.  I'm unsure of how they do waiver wire, right now I like it because it helps out my sucky team but if I was in Kermi's place I'd probably be pissed.

i'm kinda liking fleaflicker especially with the free live scoring feature

as others have pointed out, the searching capabilities leaves a bit to be desired
Title: Re: Fantasy Football '06
Post by: kermi3 on October 11, 2006, 07:03:59 PM
Bah...I don't really like that the waiver never rotates.  I think there should be a balance between giving priority to lower ranked players and allowing everyone to have a shot.  But I'm bitter now...;)

I think the search is a bit iffy, but I really like that player's average withint their last 3 games is right there on the main page.  And I REALLY like that you can put your cursor on it to see their actual numbers for the last three.  I'd also really like to be able to start making waiver claims before Tuesday.  I don't see the harm in starting to make claims before then.

period

Yeah... I'm really torn myself.  And to be honest, I'm getting a lot of news that I need from other leagues and like ESPN or whatever.  I just wonder if there are any plans for additions to fleaflicker for next year.

I'm kinda upset i missed it, to be honest. I knew it was coming up, and i kicked myself for not coming back. Ken kept banning me, and i was getting really pissed off. I was banned for being me. Thats what happened at cprog, and here was different. Were all fucking nuts and unstable, its why we all are here, isnt it?

I dont know, im still a bit pissed, but it took alot for me to kinda find my way back. Cprog i was never wanted, but i didnt care, they were assholes. I like the people here and dont have a problem with any of you. I dont know, i felt wanted here and once i lost that feeling, i just kinda felt hurt.

I dunno, bitch session over. Govt, kick kerms ass for me will ya? RoD's eagles missed this one. lol....four years running last place......lol

Anyone need a top 10 QB?  I'm in desparate need of WR and/or TE help.  I'm pretty solid at QB so Pennington is up for grabs.  While hes no Peyton Manning, hes played well and has a super easy schedule the rest of the way.  Oh, and don't offer that guy whos sitting on your bench that you never play ;)
Title: Re: Fantasy Football '06

So no offers?  Nobody needs a decent backup/starting QB?  Ober, you look like you need one the most, Hasselbeck is out for awhile and Huard is possibly out this week with Green coming back soon anyways.  Jen, you look like you could use a QB too now that Bledsoe is benched.

I'd be willing to trade Reggie Wayne (ranked #4 among all WRs) for a similar scoring RB.

Also, in the CProg league, 4 out of my 5 WRs are on a bye this week, so I'd be willing to swap one of them and/or a running back for a WR that isn't on a bye.

This doesn't help you CShot, but, oh well. ;)

My fantasy team doing well's more important to me than the Lions doing well.  Every win is just another step away from a high draft pick, not that Millen is going to know what do with a high pick.  They could give him the whole first round to himself and he'd draft a powder puff team.

I'm sure whatever whiny wide receiver Millen wants will still be around irregardless of where the Lions draft. I think you got me over at cprog though, I loved seeing the Broncos win but did Walker really need all three of those TD's?

Title: Re: Fantasy Football '06
Post by: charlie on November 08, 2006, 08:05:22 PM
I've ended up with 4 of the top 10 wide receivers. I'd like to trade one of them (preferably Reggie Wayne so that I'm not reliant on him and Manning every week). I need a good RB.

I'd be willing to take a downgrade at a position (TE, TM or K) and a RB that averages a little less than the WR I'm trading him for. The best trade I could come up with so far was to give Terrell Owens back to Govtcheez, but I decided against offering that (unless you'd consider it).

Oh, and Tony Gonzales is still available for relatively cheap in the CProg league.

Oh, oh, and DAMMIT! for not playing Walker last week. You got lucky kermi. It was a last minute decision.

you just gave up colston for pennington and you immediately dropped him?

Post by: kermi3 on November 08, 2006, 09:35:47 PM
:D I'll take last minute there Charlie, that's fine with me!  I needed the win bad!

...Oh, and I just dropped Norwood for Anthony Thomas; I donl't know if that helps.  I still think Norwood is going to be a decent player by the end of the season.  Pick him up if you want...Thomas might be a halfway decent RB for me for a week or 2...

Yea, what the hell is going on ober?  Dropping Colston and Hasselbeck?  Worse yet, letting PJ get them?  Damn you!  And screw you PJ, that's 2 or 3 wks in a row you've gotten my first choice waiver selection!

Axon - what's your team name again?
I got WRs to spare. Make me an offer.

Everyone else -
I'm looking for a top RB. I'd be willing to make a sweet package deal for one.
My WRs: Smith, Driver, C. Johnson, Fitzgerald
My RBs: James, McGahee, Green, Gore, Lewis, Jacobs

PJ, you willing to part with Alexander?

Not really interested in QBs right now, but I'll consider any offer.  I wouldn't at all mind having Hasselbeck....If you'd looking to offload Steve Smith CShot make me an offer.  I would certainly consider something along the lines of Dunn for Smith.

Second of all, LT always bombs come fantasy playoff time. Third of all, HOW THE HELL did somebody who had topped 100 yards only once all year score 40 POINTS off me in the first quarter alone yesterday while my star receiver gets injured on the first play??

Man, I lost to that all New England Patriots team. I thought I'd get a free win like everyone else but no....the Pats decided to do well with all of their skill positions.

It's just as bad as losing to Beta's team

Still probably not enough to move my rank into the single digits. LOL!  :cool2:

Title: Re: Fantasy Football '06
Post by: charlie on December 18, 2006, 02:22:51 PM
So I'm behind but still have Manning in the Sink league. Unfortunately, I'm further behind and playing against Manning in the CProg league. So I get to root for Manning to throw only one touchdown, while I root for Palmer to throw 3-4 touchdowns, but none to Henry. Even though I have the Bengals kicker Graham on my eSink team, I can't root for him to get field goals because that means that Palmer won't be getting touchdowns.

Fuck, this is confusing. (Great... now I'll be saying fuck all day thanks to that fucking short version of pulp fiction.)

Son of an ass... Not only did Manning completely demolish Palmer, dashing my hopes in CProg while not helping me at all in the eSink league because I woulda won even if he had a goose egg, but the Colts have fucking home-field throughout meaning Manning won't be playing well for the eSink team as I continue on there.

In otherwords, I've been screwed twice by my own player.
Title: Re: Fantasy Football '06
Post by: PJYelton on December 19, 2006, 04:32:34 PM
Colts have won the division but not the first round bye, they have to keep playing to keep up with San Diego and stay ahead of the Ravens.  So Manning will safely be playing the next two weeks.  The poor sap who has Tomlinson though is going to get screwed in the Super Bowl game.

:D

Those announcers were annoying. The officials did fine. They missed the call on the 49er fumble but acted correctly based on what they thought they saw. The only weird thing was the umpire looking at the other official instead of down at the play as it was happening.

Congrats CShot... well done.

Jim Mora's locker room isn't making comments about it being the rest of the teas fault or the coach's fault every day.  He just doesn't know how to use Vick.

Congratz CShot.

BTW - I got to go to the Saint's game yesterday.  We got there late.  Just in time to see Drew Brees get called off the field to a standing and confused ovation/booing.  A bit of a bummer.

I'd like to put in a couple of suggestions for next season. Hopefully I'll remember to bring it up again next season.

- Make Week 16 the last game. This year turned out all right but sometimes teams sits their starters in Week 17 if they've already clinched.

- Waiver priority Can we change this in fleaflicker? I think kerm will back me up on this one.

- Trade deadlines. To prevent player dumping.

- Defensive Points Allowed. I think holding teams to say something less than 10 points should be worth something. Shutouts are worth 10 pts but holding opponents to say 3 pts is worth squat.

Think we should do fleaflicker again next year. Really like the free live scoring feature.

I agree on all counts.  The waiver settings were awful.  I had last pick (of the poeple who were picking) for weeks on end even though my players were getting hurt.  I liuke yahoo!'s system that adds a rotating aspect into it a lot more.  Of course, I'd give it up for live scoring...

Yeah, I think we'll stick with Fleaflicker... I even emailed the owner and he said they're working on a lot of stuff for next year, and player news is at the top of the list.

I'll agree on all counts above.  I think all that stuff can be adjusted.

Again, congrats Cshot.

> Jim Mora's locker room isn't making comments about it being the rest of the teas fault or the coach's fault every day.  He just doesn't know how to use Vick.

So Coughlin should be fired for losing his locker room, but Mora's allowed to fantasize on national radio about a crappy college job?  OK.

Mora was joking, and Coughling can't hold disciplin.  The giants lost because they had no disciplin.  The Falcons didn't lose because Mora made a bad joke.

What are you talking about?  The Giants won, and are in the playoffs.

Listening to that interview, it really didn't sound like a joke.  I guess you know the inside of his soul since he was your neighbor and all, but the rest of the free world was pretty sure he wasn't joking.  The Falcons FO sure didn't seem to think so.

On a brighter note, the Broncos get knocked out of the playoffs then lose a very promising young cornerback in a matter of hours :(

Mora was joking.  It was dumb and ill spoken, but it was a joke.  Did you hear his appology?  I don't think Coughlin will lose his job, nor should he.  But I think there's more wrong with the internals of that theam than there is in Atlanta.

It's a good thing that Mora is leaving Atl...he isn't the right coach for Vick.  God only knows who is, maybe WVU's coach can come up the the big time.  But Coughlin isn't working in NYG either.  That team's lucky to be in the playoffs

Yea tough break for the Broncos PJ.  There's always next year with your new QB.

You said this on the last page, re: Coughlin getting fired

He should.  He has absolutely no control of that team and no disciplin or respect in the locker room.
So should he, or shouldn't he?

Never mind, don't answer.

you know I can't express myself coherently.  I don't think he's the right coach for that team or for Eli.  He spends too much time competing to be the one in charge.  Maybe next year with Tiki gone he'll have a chance.  I'd like to see what he can do there for one more year, but with the talent on that team, they should be much better than they are and if they don't show it, I'd look for a new coach.

I thought for sure that would be an article on how the Lions decided to keep Millen. That's the real reason you want to give a fuck you to Detroit.

I saw that article but decided not to post it, because who really didn't see that coming.

Only a little over a month until pitchers and catchers report :(

you know I don't pay attention to things that change when I've already made up my mind on something.
