The sequel to COD4:MW, ostensibly missing the "Call of Duty" surname is due out November 10th.

can someone help me figure out if there's co-op mode for xbox live multiplayer online?
on COD4, when my friend comes over to play using my xbox, the only thing we can do is play 1 on 1 against each other. There's no campaign mode and we can't both play online in the multiplayer games (like you can do in Halo3)
I've been reading all the online reviews for mw2 but can't figure out if there will be split-screen online multiplayer (where 2 of us can be playing against other people online).
I've read that there's still no co-op campaign but there ARE some coop "missions" - so that sounds good. But I still can't figure out how that relates to online play. thoughts?

I like the art - its very "graphic novel" / comic book feeling. reminds me of the stuff a friend of mine does. (he used to be a coldfusion programmer but his background was in graphic design and he recently went full time as a freelancer) http://www.jeffwamester.com/

The game looks good, but I really do not like that kind of art in a shooter. I am okay with the TF2 style cartoonish look, but this stuff takes it in an artistic direction that just does not suit my personal tastes. That said, I think the game is going to be a winner.

Oh, i tried playing CoD: World at War on the Wii last night --- ick, what a horribly unintuitive interface. It took me forever just to figure out how to walk and turn at the same time.

Badlands rocks. Awesome. Shitty interface for multiplayer. Really shitty. But otherwise it ranks with Fallout 3. It is like comparing apples and oranges, but awesome game with hundreds of hours of play built in.
9/10 with 1 point subtracted for shitty multiplayer interfacing.

okay, so I was considering getting a 360 with the walmart deal (http://gizmodo.com/5397060/walmart-selling-200-xbox-360-this-weekend-with-free-100-gift-card) that's causing a bunch of hubub. I'm a total newb though. Is it necessary to buy a hard drive, or can I use my $100 to actually buy the game?

Definitely get a HDD. I've got the 20GB one and that's just fine for me, but I don't download a ton of demos or anything. Use the rest of the money on XBL.

There's a level where you are undercover as a Russian terrorist and you basically wander through an airport gunning down tourists

I didn't like having to kill dogs in COD4 (although, for the most part, if you played right, you could get by them unnoticed) -- i heard dogs are a perk in the new multiplayer :(

And micah, there are dogs in this too. If you click the right stick you break their neck

This is a short-ass game. I beat it an hour ago. Lot of fun, but tons of loose ends in the story.

what would you estimate your total game time was? and what difficulty did you play it on?

I played it on regular and I imagine it took me about 7 hours, which is a little longer than I've been hearing

Also the more I think about the single player the more ticked I get. They really dropped the ball plotwise.

I've been hearing people taking 5-7 hours to finish it. I was closer to 7 than 5, that's for sure

only five hours? They probably got so tired of the coding that backed up all the amazing gameplay that they decided a longer game was just too much work lol

i kind of like a shorter gameplay - as someone who sucks at video games - I like that I got through the original modern warfare in 3 or 4 sessions of about 3 hours each (once on easy mode and then again later on regular)
honestly, it was the first game I've ever actually finished by myself in my life! (I've finished all three Halo's as well but with the help of a friend on co-op)

I finally played through single player (on veteran) and I agree that the way the story played out left me unsatisfied (and confused). But still, I thought they did a pretty good job and I was surprised that all the way through to the end they manage to keep you guessing at what you're going to have to do next.
