Latest news for everyone... I'm having shit luck getting all the files transferred, so I'm talking with the host about having them move them... there is still a slight problem with the phpmyadmin config also, but they're working that out.

The short of it is, I probably won't be doing the final move until tomorrow nite or the weekend.

sorry to hear that...again, what was the reason they couldn't do it themselves?
Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.

The transfer feature built into what I suppose is the server software is not functional.  They apologized and even offered to help me move the database, but that's not the problem I'm dealing with.  Moving the database is cake.  It's moving all the files involved with the forums and all the member's data that is causing me problems.  I hit spurts where I can download a bunch of files, but then it times out.  Or other times I can download about 2 or 3 files and the connection dies.

It's just taking me forever to do it and I don't want to sit here and babysit the FTP client all nite.  That's why I've requested their assistance.  Hopefully they have better access to the drive or something and have a better way of transferring everything.

Is the forums.entropysink.com subdomain working for anyone?  It's not for me

It's good for me, too.
And what rough beast, its hour come round at last,
Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?.
