aww you might "slip out there and hurt yourself"...come on....this is supposed to be a sport, not a protective detail.

They get paid enough for it... they should also add tigers chained to key points in the outfield and bring back the true meaning of sports as the romans saw it ;)

...it shouldn't - or at least it should not be televised.
Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.

Nah lets modernize it.  High powered rifles shooting beanbags.  Have them hooked up to laser sights that fire when you cross the path.

I know they're professionals, and I myself enjoyed playing in "a little" rain. But puddles in the field are not safe. Running in soaked sand is actually very hazardous, it's not like running in mud. And have anyone else here tried to throw a waterlogged ball? I'm surprised there weren't a lot of shoulder injuries. Being a ball player I can vouch for these guys, baseball is just not played in those kind of conditions.

Only because they are wussy.  I've ran in wet sand and thrown a wet baseball.

The fans paid for a show they damn well better deliver a show.

Wet sand is completely different that giant puddles on the basepaths.  It is so easy to seriously fuck up your ankle in that kind of situation.

Yeah, that's good.  They make lots of money entertaining people, so they should play under any circumstances, even when it's possible they could seriously injure themselves doing something mundane, like walking to the batter's box.  I'm sure the people who have invested so much money into these players were also ecstatic that their players were out in this.

And as for the fans, if it was called earlier (pre-5th inning), it's likely they would have gotten refunds.  Besides, you really think most fans were going to want to sit in a downpour like that?

Seriously, do you guys know anything about baseball?

I used to follow baseball a lot until the strike.  Then I realized how pathetic major league baseball really was.
