still doin things, vacillating like a motherfucker on gym choice.  I did 3x5 unassisted dips today, I should have tried this a long time ago.  It wasn't even that hard, although I will try to go deeper next time

If anyone's readin this, please suggest a gym to me.

Gym A:
$60/month
Huge
Tons of equipment
Pool, racquetball, basketball, every amenity
One 1/4 mile from work and another a mile from my house
full of yuppies
introduced valet parking this weekend
Can work out at most of the gyms in the chain throughout the country, however they're only located to metro Detroit in MI

gym number b
$40/month
fairly large
tons of weights, going up to 150+ DBs
no pool or other amenities like towel service
probably 15 minutes from home, and a 10-15 minute detour on the way home
membership is for that gym, but with a discount at others in the same chain

gym 3
$30/month
good sized
full set of weights up to 110DBs
pool and a track, but no towel service
about halfway in between work and home (so about 10 minutes from each)
membership services blow ass (micah should be able to figure out what this is)
membership for that gym only

All three are within my budget, but obviously I don't want to blow money for no reason

comedy 4th option
$10/month ($20 for unlimited tanning and guest passes!)
all machines are purple
no DBs over 65
judgement free zone - they have an alarm that sounds if someone is too loud and they can revoke your membership.  judgement free unless you lift heavy things

I'm guessing your decision is being tossed around mostly because of

-Equipment
-Facilities/services
-Locations/accessibility

Which is most important?

I haven't decided.  If the gym is a pain to go to, I will go less often.  If it doesn't have services or nice facilities (I didn't know how much I'd like towel service until I joined a gym that had it) I probably won't go as often.  If the equipment sucks, I probably won't go at all.

gym #3. Decent price, everything I would be looking for - decent equipment and a pool. go for it.
Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.

I'm a big fat loser who didn't meet either of his goals (but I was close on the strength one)

Next week I'm receiving a sizable bonus and will be using most of it to put together a home gym :)  Squat rack, 400# of weight, bench, and elliptical.  I'm so geeked :)

Now was that just $100, or $100 plus a hand job, 6-pack of beer and a stick of gum - cuz that's usually how CraigsList purchases are advertised.

(Where's that sarcasm tag?)

Well, I got the weights and there were no _____jobs of any kind, although the weights are metric which is kind of annoying, but whatever.  I also grabbed a curling bar and a weight stand :)

Next up, ordering my squat rack, a bench, and floor padding.  Also an elliptical.

It's carpet with a carpet pad underneath it, but I'll be getting rid of it to get some actual floor padding in

edit: oh you probably meant the blue stuff.  That's the lovely tile that is installed in half of my basement.  Gotta love the style mentality in the late 50s.  It goes great with the bright red pleather bar on the other side of the room
