I was just reading a thread about old computer technology and someone posted pics of their Apple II with the original Oregon Trail disks and now I cannot stop thinking about how much a modern version of that game would rule.  The hunting portions as an FPS, the journey as a driving game, things like caulking the wagon or whatever as minigames.  I would play the shit out of that game

Modern version is an app in iTunes.  Kind of fun.

But what exactly would be an FPS about it?  I mean you really only shoot animals if I remember correctly.  I mean it would be cool to get into random gun battles with the robbers and shit.

I would say it would be awesome in a futuristic kind of way.  Like Oregon Trail meets the movie The Road.  I wouldn't be crazy about driving a wagon.  But give me an armored hummer or something that can break down, and I'm all about it.
