He's been an instructor for like 25 years in more styles then I can even recall, and has won his fair share of competitions I think expert is a fair statement.

I know a lot of people not my fault.

Do you realize how many different martial art styles exist in the world?  Hell, take just wushu as an example.  It wasn't uncommon for each house to have a different style.

6 weeks in and I'm still loving Judo. We've done some really cool throws and we do a lot of ne-waza (free ground fighting). Yesterday I almost had a sweet rolling arm bar on a guy but he slipped out last second. Got a couple of nice chokes and pinned him in kesa-gatame for like a minute.

I've had a few minor injuries, the worst being bruised ribs after being body slammed a couple of times (that's something you do in competition but aren't supposed to do in practice). A swollen toe and mat burns on top of the feet. Nothing debilitating though.

overall, Judo is still 10/10.

Well, Judo is done for the term. I got promoted to yellow belt this week!  I'll be gone all summer so hopefully I can find a club to keep practicing. Otherwise I'll be back at it in September.

Judo log, Wednesday, October 14.

Judo has persisted in being the greatest thing since sliced bread. I always feel great after, it's really quite a good workout. Yesterday I spent the last 20 mins of class working with one of the black belt instructors. We were just going throw for throw, sort of sparring but taking turns letting each other attack. Despite getting slammed pretty good by a couple of insane throws it was really good. I got a lot of good practice working with someone who really knows their shit. Good stuff :)
