Topic: Warrior Dash

It's a week after my 30th birthday, I've started hitting the gym again after a long layoff, and it looks like a lot of fun.  It's slightly longer than a 5K, so it's not a terribly long distance.

Also, you get a free hat and free beer.  What do y'all think?

I think my brother and I are going to do a Spartan Race (http://www.spartanrace.com) sprint this year. It's closer and cheaper than the warrior race.

Yeah, the training will mostly be running, but I need to do some basic conditioning things, too.  Any advice on that?  My new gym has tires to flip, a sled, and a 60 yard track

ethic it doesn't look like there's one of these in UT (probably because of the beer thing) but you can crash on my couch and we'll do the one here together

Tires and sled? That sounds awesome. I'm guessing a lot of plyos will also help judging by that course description.

I just found the olympic weightlifting gym at school. I wish I remembered how to convert kg to lbs before I started doing cleans and front squats again. Friday was not a fun walking day.
I also found out that we have a school "strongman" competition
I hope my thumb is okay for that.

Shit, I'm sure not gonna be competitive.  What I am going to be is extremely muddy and sunburned.  You don't enter these types of things to win, you enter to do it.

edit: Obviously some people enter to win, but the vast majority at this or any other 5K are there to have fun
