Maybe...I however am very aware of what serious runners tend to leave in their wake.  NO way I would follow in that miasma.

Oh yeah, like I said, it's gonna be a mess.  If it was an ordinary race I'd be pretty ticked about it but 1) I'm waaay too out of shape to have opinions about things like these and 2) It wouldn't feel right to do this on a pristine course.

As long as I don't roll an ankle or anything I'm sure I'll live

Think of all the littered water bottles as mini-hurdles. It makes it more challenging.

When I ran cross country in high school, one of the courses was at a shooting club.  By the end of the race, you'd be carrying around a half dozen shells on the bottoms of your spikes

Worst course we had was at a godam golf course.  The last 200 meters or so was up this huuge hill that kicked everybody's ass.  Oddly, I generally liked hilly courses.

We had all sorts of fun shitty courses.  My senior year, we started a race at halftime of a football game at night and the course was basically all through the school's parking lots and things, with no lights.  People were falling off curbs and tripping over potholes left and right.  It was super unsafe.  The kickoff for the second half was delayed because the finish line was on the football field and the slower kids took a long time getting in.  The fastest kids had to weave through the marching band's show.  It was a huge mess.

What a fiasco.
