I've noticed the news here (well, Global at least) has become really adoptive of technology. They use Google Earth on almost every newscast to show locations (zooming in from far out). They also have every newscast available as a podcast (audio and video) as soon as the show ends. I don't actually have a portable video player but I think I'd actually use that if I did. I don't always have time to watch the news.
They've also been spamming "Powered by Vista" everywhere, showing previews in windows media player, screen caps showing the mouse hovering over images of a tv show to do a recap. That part I could live without
