I think this is less about guns and more about the fact that Canucks insist on celebrating Boxing Day.

I saw it on the local news yesterday.  That store is just minutes from the University I attended.  I couldnt believe it, and am extremely sad/upset that a girl lost her life. :(

Wow...I want to move to a country where shootings are news. Is it really that rare up there or are they just milking this story?

here's the newest one.  now canadian politicians are blaming it on the US.

hey canada - take responsibility for your own gang problems

Why do they have to just blame the US? How 'bout they get some more mounties or something to patrol the borders.

The escalating violence prompted the prime minister to announce earlier this month that if re-elected on January 23, his government would ban handguns. With severe restrictions already in place against handgun ownership, many criticized the announcement as politics.

nice, yeah that's the way to go, ban handguns, so an honest man cannot defend himself from a criminal. Really smart. Unless of course there's a REALLY low crime rate in canada, then that would make sense (I could be wrong).

There ARE places that have a ban on guns already.

For some reason I thought Canada was one of them, but from my knowledge, there is a relatively low crime rate...just reading the article will tell you that.

It's sort of like Christmas, Day 2.  Traditionally it's when you were meant to give gifts etc. to the poor, but the actually reason, and it's name, aren't exactly clear.  I think it's only Commonwealth countries that celebrate it, and even then it's more or less just another public holiday, rather than one of any religious significance or cause for civic duty.

The name comes from the box traditionally given to servants as a gift on the day after Christmas.
