bock bock bock
« on: September 13, 2021, 01:42:07 PM »
We're getting chickens - haha. With the prices of lumber being what they are, I just ordered a nice coop - it should come this week. Then I'll build a run for it. I'm not sure if we'll still get chicks this year, or if we'll wait until spring. Every one is excited!

ended up with 10. They started laying in August of last year. Fresh eggs rock.

It's been a long time since I dealt with eggs on my grandparent's farm... how many eggs do 10 chickens produce?

8 to 10 eggs per day, except when days are short and cold; mid-November to mid January we've been getting 3-5. We had 10 yesterday :)

Are you selling them?  Your cholesterol will hate you if you eat that many every day lol.

nope, not selling. We give some to friends. I eat 20 eggs per week. Between my wife and kids, they eat another 20 or so.
