Ok, its been a month since I was last thinking of buying the $100 wi-fi thingy and paying for the gold subscription to get xbox360 Live.
now I'm getting geared up to buy Halo3 (and NHL08) and started thinking about it again.
my problem is that I'm really just a casual gamer who usually only plays when friends come over (none of my real-life friends have their own game systems)
So I want to go Live but I don't know if I should do it? How hard is it to "meet new people" ? who could I play with? Should i just save my money and play against the computer?
-
I don't have it but I did on the vanilla XBox for awhile. It's good and easy to meet people but for a lot of games be prepared for people to disconnect and shit like that. If you've got a group of people who don't suck (from a forum or something) it's pretty cool.

You don't really need the $100 wi-fi thingy. I just run a really long cable to my hub to the 360 and then put it away after I'm done with my gaming session.
Can't wait for Halo 3 to come out.

Don't know how much I'll be playing this year once I go back to school, but I'll definitely be up for a game of Halo 3 and maybe something else every now and then (my two roommates were picked largely for their Halo skills )
If you're a chatty person, it shouldn't be too hard to meet new "friends."

By the way, was anyone here a member of gamertag.com? They seem to have shut down, and I have no idea what happened

*bump*
My lad's been playing a lot recently and I think I've got the bug. Anyone else play?

I asked for one of the wireless adapter things for christmas and if i don't get it i'll probably just buy my own.

I've been playing way to much Halo 3. Level 47 in Team Slayer :o (In my defense, it's a lot easier to level up in Halo 3 than it was in Halo 2)

Hope this hasn't happened to you yet micah:

Might be too late for me :|

sorry to bump a long dead thread but...
I never got around to buying the wifi for xbox but, now that I"ve moved, my router is located very close to my TV and I've been able to hardwire my xbox.
So I've got xBox LIVE now. (currently halfway through my 1-month Gold Membership free trial)
My friend and I played some multilayer Halo3 last night and got are asses kicked pretty hard for a couple hours before we called it a night.
It was fun though. I'm not sure if it was fun enough to pay $50 a year or $20 every 3 months to continue the membership though. I don't have any real-world friends that have their own xbox and, playing with strangers sucks because I suck and get killed every 10 seconds.
Anyone else still use xbox live? recommendations?

I've got it - I play some stuff with my brother in law and guys from work sometimes. My name is SA Govtcheez

I've still got Xbox live, same gamertag (JaWiB). I won't be on for about ten weeks though, but that's a whole other story
-
got xbox live too - see sig below - dont play halo though - did try and play CoD multiplayer and got my butt kicked badly :(
havent played in a couple of months though as i've been mmoing on the pc (thats mmoing and not mooing)
-
2 weeks until I'm back on LIVE

I've been playing a lot of CoD4 online lately. about an hour a day probably. Today I blew $10 and downloaded the extra map-pack with 4 new maps. But it sucks because they just get mixed in randomly with the other maps so, so far, I've only gotten to play one of them. I don't even know what the other 3 look like.

I am back into Fallout 3. Started over with the full expansion pack set. No more expansions are due so I figured that this would be a good time for a full replay. Fallout 3 Vegas isn't due for some time. I think 2011?
