Domain - Email
« on: May 23, 2007, 06:00:49 PM »
A friend of mine doesnt care about hosting a website, but wants his own @whatever.com email address.

I came across this

https://www.godaddy.com/gdshop/email.asp?ci=9020

Any other suggestions?

Thanks

Talk to Ober.

I use GoDaddy (three years) as does my mother and several friends.  The customer service is 24/7 and just amazing.  We have been really pleased.  Good place to check out when you do your comparisons.  A really good place to get started in the first place.

However there are definately LOTS of places that are cheaper.  Don't know how much cheaper or how their service is.

Hope that helps.

Now...where is bigfoot when ya need him...

Google Apps. Works great. Got my domain from 1and1.com but Google can register domains now too.

i've never had problems with godaddy and have a number of domains with them.

just remind your friend, before checking out, always google the phrase "goddady coupon code" before checking out. you can always save at LEAST an extra $1 off your purchase. usually more.

if you know anyone who DOES need good hosting, i always recommend jumpline.  The standard Virtual Private Network plan is less then $200 a year and for the past few months they've been running a special where the first year is FREE (w/ no obligation after the year is up)

I know a few of you have had good luck with them, but I've made several helpdesk requests and never got a single response.  They're control panel is also FAR from friendly and really hides a lot of things and hinders you from being able to really grab your site by the balls and get work done.  They "stupid-proof" it to the nth degree and it's completely unnecessary.  The control panel BLOWS.  The only worse control panel I've seen is Yahoo's.
