Title: To Ban or Not to ban
Post by: Mike on September 03, 2005, 08:48:00 PM
salvelinus has proposed that we ban ILoveVectors.
I quote him
Quote
Can I have mod powers to ban this fuckhead troll? At least Dean had style. If this is him, he's lost that.

Let your voices be heard!

That and I don't have an opinion on him.

I say no ban... just because he has a controvercial and unpopular opinion doesn't call for a ban IMO.

I think it is good that he holds his opinion.  In the future, if he never agrees to anything *ever*, and always for the purpose of argument, that may require a ban.

But we shouldn't ban him now. (or maybe ever)

most of the peopel here, and at cp are cool as hell,
one reason i post alot, but if you deny me my opinion,
they i would rather not be apart of the forums, either
way there'd be no reason for a ban because i will quit
posting, if everything i ever said was unwelcome.

btw since i can no longer post contest, can i recommend opening
a contest board here?

suprisingly, after the many people i have helped,
it amazes me that they banned me for a little
comment on cprogramming.com

P.S.
i joined thsi board off the cprogramming board, because
i liked the style and thought that this was a more carefree place
were we coudl really share and say what we thought.

i havent posted here much cause there not alot of topics
that share my intrested but i sitll check it quite often.

also i suppose i should thank you for letting then general public
vote on this issue, make this board really stand for something
i think, something great.

Thats it your banned!

If any of you are really still wondering, yes I created this thread as a joke.  Which is exactly why option #3 was put in there

I voted yes...merely because no was pulling ahead.  Besides, what good is having the power to ban if you never use it?

Great avatar, pianorain.

edit: No on the ban: having a contrary opinion that reflects an insensitive, narrow-minded, intolerant and ignorant mind-set are insufficient reasons in my view for a banning.

But you really need to stop drinking, ILV, and start using a spell-checker; it's one thing having annoying and largely invidious viewpoints but failing to express them in something approximating to coherent language just won't do.

No, banning should be used as little as possible.
Title: To Ban or Not to ban

Except in sang-drax's case.... where daily bannings are authorized.  :)

I am going to agree with KenF - including the part about coherent language. I actually have no idea who IloveVectors is so nothing that he/she/it has said could have been that bad to make me raise up my head and go 'woah' or words to that effect.

ps Pianorain like the avatar too

I wasn't serious about banning him. I just think many of his posts are incredibly idiotic.

Don't force me ILV.

And I don't plan on personally banning anyone here, other than people determined to be detrimental to the community (slamming members, obvious spamming, etc.)

This is a very open community and we can tolerate people's opinions.

Correction:
Is this the cboard? And the posts deleted on the cboard were not mine.

Although some would question starting a sentance with 'And'.

And should never ever be used to start a sentence. Never catch me doing it.

Oh, and ILV shouldn't be banned for his opinions when a spell in the dumbass thread is just as effective :D.

i can agree with this, who care about spelling,
ant punctiation and captializing, that something you save
for English Paper, or work, not some random people i dont know.

as for govt,  ask one the mods, they will tell you it wasnt me, because
they should beable to see the ip address, and see that its not me.

i did point out that thread on some other place i post and maybe some
people took it upon themselves, but it was not my doing.

why wouldnt i care, i didnt want to be banned from cboards, in
the first place. there is nothing wrong with pointing out interesting
things that happen across the web, that what some of these boards
are for, so i just pointed out something i found interesting, if other
people who choose to speak up, how is that my fault. also it
likly for many to share my opinion, one reason i would of posted
in the other boards.  what most of you are really upset is that many
do actually feel the way i do, they just dont want to take the percicution,
so they keep quite.

i suppose it would happen again anyways, they banned me
like a year ago the first time.

i dont remmeber exactly why they banned me because it was so long ago,
but im pretty sure it had to do with my opinion on something.
if im not mistaken i think it was kermit3 back then who banned me.

also, not that im not honor'ed or anything ot be the first post in the dumbass thread,
but how are they suppose to make fun of the dumbass if the thread is closed.
starting a whole new thread?

this might be a bad time to ask since it on yes, but what the timelimit

Time has no meaning here, thus time limits are irrelevant

does it really matter which one, there groups there,
everybody in one of them, some switch between them,
and some start there own with different rules.

Quite right. I feel far more positive about your views after struggling to translate what you actually wrote into what I think you meant to write. I mean, my time costs nothing does it?

Anyway, everyone knows that correct spelling and grammar is a sure fire sign of a communist / fascist organisation.

(Fucking  just in case there was any possible doubt).
