A week and a half until it's here, gents.  Feel free to post disparaging comments about other countries here, such as how the English have horrible teeth, Australia'll be too drunk to play, and Scotland didn't qualify.

I requested the afternoon of the 12th off so I can go watch the US beat those dirty Czech dogs the proper way.  I must spend the next week learning the names of all their mothers, so I can drunkenly curse them at the bar.

Don't they have Brazil and Croatia in their group? If so they'd be as well to just get piss-faced drunk and enjoy the holiday because they'll get liquidised.

England, though, have an easy group which, as World Cup tradition demands of any group they're in, shall hereafter be referred to as 'The Group of Sleep' (Thankyou Mexico!).

I'm not a big futbol fan but I have a team Argentina jersey straight from Buenos Aires, and if I don't cheer for them I'd likely be killed in my sleep by my girlfriend.

We'll see about that.  They've got some injury problems, and we're fresh off a shellacking of perennial powerhouse Latvia, in which Brian McBride sustained probably the biggest welt I've ever seen in soccer.  He went up and smacked into a defender.  The resulting bump made it look like he was trying to grow a horn.

They might do okay. Spain are another of those teams that seem to look great on paper but just can't seem to get their act together in these major tournaments.

Didn't England draw Sweden last time, too? Crap! The english press will no doubt be having a massive wank-fest with 'turnip' puns (swede - turnip; get it? ). Poor Sven. Poor rest of UK.

That will be an interesting group. Holland cant be ignored - pretty damn good World Cup record (havent won it though) and a new generation in the national side might reveal some suprises

Mexicans first coined the terms 'Group of Sleep' (in which england are most comfortable) and 'Group of Death' (where Scotland fought defiantly against the likes of Brazil) during the Mexico world Cup sometime in the 1980's; I forget which one.

Anyway, Mexico's okay by me - what's your problem with them, cheez?
