Your feet should stay flat but with the weight shifted to the balls of your feet. Also make sure you aren't pointing your knees outward or something like that...
These are both wrong.  Your feet should be flat, but you should be driving from your heels, not the balls of the feet.  Pointing your knees outward is perfectly fine as long as they're still in line with your toes.

ewww, lifting from your heels will get your seoi-nage reversed in a second. You have better stability and forward throwing force if you keep the weight forward. (ok, my squating technique is for Judo training, but you never know when you may need to throw somebody! always be prepared!)

And the pointing knees too far outward thing was just a guess as to why he may have a groin injury from squats. Toes (and knees with them) should be slightly outward, I'd say no more than 30 degrees-ish.

If you are squatting heavy weight on your toes, it will tend to bring you forward and make it more likely to lose your balance

And yeah I didn't mean you should have your toes pointing out 90 degrees or anything, but there's nothing wrong with having them pointed outwards (even more than 30 degrees) as long as you keep your knees in line with the toes.  Look at videos of powerlifters - they all point them outwards.

yeah, in Judo you want that forward motion. I guess throwing the barbell at the gym might be frowned upon.

At the gym I don't squat heavy weight so it's never been a problem for me.

Pretty much yes for about the past year unless I'm using a track, treadmill, or running less than a 400.

What made you start wearing them?  I see tons of people wearing them at the gym and at races but they've always struck me as gimmicky, kind of like when people show up at a 5K with a technical hat, camelbak, and a pouch full of gels.

I used to get blisters running 15 minutes in whatever shoe I was wearing. Now it takes an hour.

DL max 205. It was probably the worst lift I've ever performed.

That would probably be a lot easier to do if I was in college or a year younger. And I'd probably need to lose a few pounds.

New hang clean max 123#. Finally getting back up to respectable numbers.

I did a 3 mile trail run today. I had a lot of fun, but I don't think I can take two weeks off of running again.

Will other runners laugh at me if I start carrying trail maps on my run so I can avoid getting lost?
