For the young and upcoming parents in the Sink

I am not a fan of monitors, they seem like a great way to broadcast personal conversations to the neighborhood.  Am I paranoid?

So how do you propose we listen to our kids??  It is a necessary evil.  And the only thing it would broadcast is my son crying or my daughter's babble.. and if the neighbors want to listen to me sing "twinkle twinkle" to my daughter every night, more power to them.
