I don't remember if I told my DishNetwork story here and mentioned this before, but I don't get broadcast channels in HD on it. I had to buy an off-air antenna to get HD signal and not there's huge ugly rabbit ears next to my pretty TV.

But NBC and FOX now come in pretty well, and CBS is generally watchable in HD. I have to go online just to get ABC in standard.

But I get most other stations I watch in HD. Comedy Central is the only one I can think of that I watch in standard definition. I don't watch that much TV though. They keep adding more and more channels, so for the most part it isn't a problem.

I upconvert many stations, and would don't miss my old 27" at all.  Ever.

HD channels are increasing a few at a time.  There is supposed to be a major HD rollout in Feb to May 09.

DVDs rock on my HD.

Haven't tried BR yet.

Your missing out. After a BR, you wont want to watch a DVD anymore.

Man this thread makes me feel so "outta the loop". 3/4 of the TV's in our house are shitty little portables, the one in the lounge is like 21" (not HD) and we don't even have Sky (well we do kinda, this "free sky" which is a bastardisation of Freeview channels and some select Sky channels that nobody ever fucking watches).

The only reason we have "Sky" is for the digital switch-over. Dunno why it sounds like I'm bitching though, I hardly ever watch TV. Would be nice to have a decent HDTV for gaming though... but I don't have a PS3 or 360... so I'll shut up.

If you are used to it already, better off without it.  Were I single I wouldn't have my big screen.

Yeah, same here. (Well, actually if I were single I'd have more spending money and I might have the big screen anyway.)

But if our old flat screen (not flat panel) still worked then I'd still be perfectly happy to use it. HD is way nicer, but you don't always need fabulous when you've got great.
