I truely enjoyed the Incarnations of Immortality Series by Piers Anthony.

I've read one, and it was pretty well written. Overall, I don't read much fantasy at all, but do like Piers Anthony.

Yes: On a Pale Horse. A decent enough book, if I remember correctly.
And what rough beast, its hour come round at last,
Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?.

I didn't hear anyone mention The Death Gate Cycle, by Magaret Weiss and Tracy Hickman. Definitely worth a try. The first four books can be read separately and when you've read them there are three more that should be read in order.

If anyone has read they will recognize my nickname and my title. Sang-drax is the evil guy in The Death Gate Cycle.

If we're going to talk about Weis and Hickman, I'll recommend the Chronicles Trilogy and the Legends Trilogy.  They're both about AD&D, but still good.

Weird... I thought it was a misspelling from the game Mechwarrior.

I have to give a thumb's up to the first five books of The Incarnations of Immortality series. The last two were pretty good, but not as good as the first five IMHO. Actually Piers Anthony has written a bunch of good stuff, and I mean a bunch.
The One Tree series was a good read too.
I agree that Moorcock wasn't the best in the genre, but I have to give him bonus points for his association with Hawkwind.
The last fantasy novel I read was "A Game of Thrones" by George R R Martin (yeah I know, the "RR" almost made me put it down too...). The carachters were well written and suited to their place in the story, not just your standard "smart guy with wand, strong guy with sword" type of thing. It's written well enough that if you took away the fantasy elements, it'd probably still be a decent story. It's the first in a series, but I haven't read the others yet.
Leave the gun. Take the canolis.

The first book I read in the series was actually #6 and I thought it was good.  #7 was a meh but its hard to write a good story about a diety that doesn't get involved.

Yes, A Song of Ice and Fire (the name of that series) is very good, but I still cannot recommend it. The reason is that it is nowhere close to being finished. There are many unwritten books in the series and it has been many years since Martin completed a book.

For the same reason, I don't actually recommend The Wheel of Time, even though those are the best books I've ever read.

i'll have to disagree with you on the george r r martin books... song of ice and fire books are great, and he HAS finished books recently... check out A Feast For Crows (book 4 of song of ice and fire series)... it will be published July 26, 2005, and book 5 - A Dance With Dragons is already half done, too. i would highly recommend this series as he writes in a totally different style than the typical fantasy author... and as far as "many" books in the series: it's going to take 7 to finish the story, so that's not too bad... lol

It was finished May 29th.

This is very good news, thank you!

Still, it took him like 5 years to write... :(

yea, i can't agree with you more that he takes his time... i felt the same way about stephen king and the dark tower series until he pumped out the last 3 books in just over a year... don't know what got into him!
