Title: StyleXP : Your thoughts?
Post by: jverkoey on April 15, 2005, 12:39:03 AM
I like it a lot, provides a lot of cool features and customizability to windows.  I've got mine set to a mac setup cuz I like the mac's GUI a bit better than windows, nicer on the eyes.

Anyone else use this program?  Like/dislike?  Favorite styles?  Discuss!

IIRC, StyleXP does the same thing as the uxtheme.dll patchers, only you have to pay for it.

Haha.

I use gnome... i can have any number of themes, window types, icons, widgets.. and its all free. My last set up was a mac theme, im currently using a variation of the Glider theme, with TuxnTosh icons, and Blue curve widgets.

*yeah, i know this doesnt relate to winxp themes. meh. :p

And no, I didn't spend money on it.  The "demo" they have for download basically is just as good as the real thing.

Umm... but it's a trial, so I assume you can't use it after 30 days or something.

Nope, I've been using it for a few months with no problems.  Hmm....wait, I just recently reinstalled it though.  Quite possibly the timer gets reset every time you install it.  Not 100% sure on that.

Here's my current theme with StyleXP.  Customized icons and windows, etc...

Especially if you formatted, the timer would be reset.  And maybe you got a version of it before it went to a paid version?

Ew. I used to try to make my computers look like OSX before I got a mac; Now I know why drak always used to mock me. That looks terrible :( Especially the pinstripes ::shudder::

Do yourself a favor and get the OpusOS theme. It should work with StyleXP: http://www.deviantart.com/view/4591314/

I like the blue w/ compact start menu, but that's just me. I find that generally I get sick of theming my computer after a while, but I've been using OpusOS for well over a year, and I still love it. You hardly notice that it's there; it looks great. Plus, everybody who's ever used my computer always asks how to "make [their] computer do that" :lick:

I use windowblinds because a few of my customers wanted cool themes and I didn't feel like updating uxtheme every time a new service pack came out...so i bought a bunch of licenses so I've got one that I use...I'll post a pic of my theme when I get home today.
