Title: Mandalorian
Post by: Jake on January 15, 2020, 02:05:46 PM
We got D+ as part of my wife's verizon plan. Started watching Mandalorian - 4 episodes in so far - it is good, but I wouldn't call it great. It's keeping me interested, but I don't see all the hoopla behind it? did the marketing just get to me? and other than that, I don't see anything that would make me actually pay for D+

Umm.... baby yoda?  I think the show itself and the premise is interesting.  It's certainly not ground breaking but my family text group is mostly baby yoda memes.

Mostly dug it.  Yeah Obes.  A baby Yoda creature.  It isn't Yoda but it is a money grab.  Show has some weak points however I am looking forward to S2.

I liked it.  Baby Yoda is totes adorbs and it's cute how this big-bag-fighting-Mando guy becomes like his overly protective father.  I'll watch season 2 for sure.

This show just keeps getting better - the latest episode was pretty great. You guys still watching?

I started season two a couple weeks ago but haven't caught up.  Thanks for the reminder though, maybe I'll put it on tonight once the kids are in bed.

I haven't actually watched any of this yet. Right now, my "the wife's not home" show I occasionally watch is Cobra kai. Once I'm through season 1 I'll check out the mandolorian.

My girls won't watch it.  I've tried on several occasions to get them to watch Star Wars or any of it's off-shoots.  Zero interest.
the "after bed" part was just because, until they're asleep, I have absolutely no free time to do anything relaxing for the block of time required to watch one or more episodes of anything.

Sad to see it end, at least with the current story line but it was interesting to say the least.

looks like the next story line will be reclaiming Mandalore - overall they did a wonderful job weaving that into these two season to gear up for a continuation. It was not forced and flows very naturally.

Did you guys stay to see what's after the final credits of the last episode?

Oh man, I was confused and had to look it up just now.  I thought the Boba Fett thing was going to replace the Mandalorian. I didn't realize Mando was coming back for another season!

We just got Disney+ a few weeks ago so I watch Mandalorian.  Freaking loved it.  The use of the western motif, pacing, shots, and music was just fantastic.

I was a little disappointed that we essentially got Space Gus as the big bad but still enjoyed it.

this is not really a video about mandalorian, but about the new real-time LED panel-based backdrop tech that was used in filming it.  Pretty crazy cool, honestly.  Its like when bullet-time came 25 years ago... it seems so simple and obvious but it just needed the technology and computer power to catch up in order to be practical.

Wow, that was really cool to watch and learn about.

I also recently plowed through both Mandalorian and Book of Boba Fett and looking forward to the next season. For some reason when Mando first came out I really couldn't get into it but watching it almost concurrently with BoBF worked out.

Book of Boba Fett was fun until the last few episodes when it basically became Mando part 2
