Slingbox
« on: May 21, 2011, 07:39:04 AM »
Anyone here have or have used a Slingbox before?

Am considering ordering one and having a friend installing it at her home so I can watch 'murican cable tv.

Or maybe you know someone who knows someone who heard that someone they knew from high school used one before.

I work with someone that has it and loves it.  She travels a lot and uses it a ton.

From what I've been reading on the net is that the product is good, but their customer service blows ass.

I'm also trying to figure out if it would be best to put the slingbox on a DVR that's in room that is hardly used.  My chinese boyfriend here said that when you're watching tv over the slingbox you see exactly what's playing on the cable box back home.  If you change the channel, it changes the channel on the tv back home.

Haven't found anything that says "yes" or "no" on that front.

I'm pretty sure that's how it works - it's a remote connection to your home box

If you change the channel on sling it will change on the tv. The dvr would be a good idea.

then i think my idea of telling her to attache the slingbox to a dvr in a room that isn't used a much would be the best choice.

thanks - I figured one of y'all would either have one, or personally know someone who does/did.

I have never used one, but a coworker has owned one for years.  He has always had positive reviews of it.  Uses it around the house and when he travels.
