Talk To Me 'Bout TVs (Part 83493)

So now that I got my house in Japan and furnishing it I realized that my TV is only 2" bigger than my 24" LED Apple Cinema Display.

Not amused.

So I'm in the market for a new TV but I have not been keeping up with what's new a current.

I know I don't want a 3D TV and I'm not too interested in LED since the pricing is still high (my assumption).

Here are the things I'd like to stick to.

1. No bigger than 47"
2. Not brand sensitive (DOES APPLE MAKE A TV?!?!?)
3. Ideally, < $1K
4. Keep in mind since I'm overseas, I'm limited in what I can buy cuz most places won't ship to an FPO box, so I'll probably be buying it from the NEX.

Drak.  I did attempt to look through the NEX site, but authentication was required.

I'll have to read through that thread while I'm at work to kill some time.

This is the part that sucks.  I saw Obes' choice and looked at it on Amazon and most of the TV's have this little caveat on the shipping which sucks for me.

But I think a lot of the information that is in there will be useful.

And I forgot about the NEX and AAFES websites requiring an account which is stupid - I can understand the account to order, but just to look around?

DK, let me know if you have any questions.  I love my Vizio. 

I would steer clear of LED as well for now, if nothing else than for the points that Knuck made in that thread he posted.  LCD is just fine.

By the way, I bought mine without more than a few glances in an actual store and I didn't even look at the model I bought.

well it looks like most sites won't ship to an FPO address.

Amazon won't, neither will Walmart.

I don't have a Costco or Sam's membership so I can't see if they'll deliver to an FPO.

I did find this Samsung at the local NEX http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/asin/B004SNA992/ref=nosim/televisionhunter-20

I didn't check the final price, but the price at the NEX was 897.99 (or thereabouts).  So far it's looking like the winner, even thought I think 46" is a bit big, but what the hell.
