Martin Amis - "Einstein's Monsters"
« on: October 19, 2005, 02:05:21 PM »
I've picked this book up because I read an exceprt from one of the short stories within it. The book is a series of short stories that share a common theme - nuclear weapons. Amis is a great opposer of nuclear weapons and the book is prefaced by a pretty good essay about the topic. I actually read only the essay and one of the short stories entitled "the immortals" - which tells a tale of an immortal in the future who has seen the evolution of human beings until their destruction from nuclear weapons...the writing is decent and entertaining. I read that infact this is one of Amis's worst efforts - but it got me interested enought that I might read one of his many novels.
