Tell me which one you guys think is best, or improvements if they all suck.
-
Definitely don't like 13, 12, 8 (or bleh as you've named it), or the first one. And 2 and 3 look the same to me..oh it looks like the spacing's a little different. Whatever.
The last few look nice, but I don't think they'd go very well with the current layout.
-
Once I have a new banner, I'm going to update the site design to match, mind you.
-
The last one
-
The last one is the best... I guess.... but I'm going to be honest and say that I really don't like any of them. You should focus on your name and make the banner reflect that. Take a screenshot of a open folder in windows or take a picture of a open file cabinet or a desk with a bunch of papers all over it... I think any of those would fit.
-
Anything with ginger in it is bad. Very Bad.
-
Those were all very, very...no.
-
Welcome to my art skills :dunno: That's why I tend to like to keep to the programming side of things....
-
Do it like the page in the other thread:
http://www.afrotechmods.com/
-
among those that are present, the last one is probably the best.
bleh is probably only good if you're hosting queens discusing vital social issue and makeup tips.
-
Yah, bleh is definitely not going to be put on my site.
But anyway, I spent my french class sketching a grayscale drawing of what I want my new site design to look like somewhat with a banner idea. Problem is....I'm not 100% sure how I'm going to pull off the graphics, *sigh*
I'll scan in the pic once I get home and then start messing with photoshop a bit.

Here it is:

Text could use some reworking...

Clearer Text

Cleaned out black areas

Tell me what'cha think....anything to tweak in particular?
-
my eyes hurt....it is decent, but it is painful - seriously, it is.
-
That doesn't help much....
-
It's very bright.
Ya know, I think my main problem with your banners are the way you capitalize and the font you use. Both suck.
And I guess to be honest, I'm not a huge fan of the name, and it doesn't look good in large print.
Can you try using a different font and not capitalizing any of it?
-
K, I'll try that quick.
-edit-
And here we go:
-
that looks so much better.
-
but the three f's are so confusing! fff!
-
looks like you may need to use this for the text portion of you site for now: http://www.lipsum.com/
-
Yah that's kinda the reason that I capitalize it....but I guess if people find their way to my site they'd have to type the three f's anyways or something. It's not that big of a deal I suppose.
Anyway, when I get home today I'm going to start working on redoing all of the content for my site. I've decided the current design is just too dark and kinda slopped together, so I'm going to put it through the 3rd revision in the past year and a half
-
for a start it doesn't look too bad... (bgtest.htm) I'd have to see it further along to get an better idea of it... if you follow what you had in your book, it shouldn't turn out too bad...
also: if you wanted to run with that hall design, gradients are your friend... look at the design I just threw together really fast: (http://www.johnshaoonline.com/misc/images/TJF.png)
just use a square gradient, and keep adding on to it... use a small square, then double the size (from the same starting point) and keep doing that until you get to a light shade (in my case transparent) where you want them... then you can add doors/people/lights/etc.
-
Hmm, very cool, I hadn't thought of doing that. I was thinking of maybe trying to put together a 3D rendering of a hallway or something....I'll just see what happens.
-
Heeere we go:
http://thejefffiles.com/banners/bgtest.htm
Alright, all of the template text and my links are in there. Now to actually start copying all the PHP code over and such.
-
So the design's finished....any opinions?
http://TheJeffFiles.com/
-
The banner just doesnt do it for me. The rest is cool though
-
Nice. Some of the links to the left don't work.
-
Looks pretty good.... but can you maybe... make it not so blindingly bright?

I know, still converting the old layout to the new design.

I'll probably add another style customizer. I'll add another layout with somewhat the same colors but a darker set.
-
I think if you just put a slightly more dull color around the sides, it might be fine.
-
it's generally good except for the white edges... I can't help but squint when your site comes up...
