Ever since my palm pilot died I haven't had any source of portable music. I'm thinking of picking up a 4GB nano. They're small, decent amount of storage for the price, and most of all... have the best linux support and 3rd party vendor support.

What do y'all think about the nano?

hmmm, that doesnt sound good at all. I wouldn't really care if the body got scratched, but not being able to read the screen would suck.

I have a mini (4 gig) which I love.  I've had it replaced once (battery died).  The first one I had got really scratched up.  For the second one, I stole one of my dad's Palm screen covers (clear, plastic, sticky) and have had very few scratches on this one.  

However, I'm wishing I had more than 4 gigs now...if I were buying now I'd get either a full size one or a 6 gig mini.

damn, after reading all of that I still want one... whats wrong with me? Ive got the itch!  oh well, it will go nicely with my x86 power book, white headphones, and collection of U2 songs.

i want an ipod for my birthday, trying to get at least the 20gig off ma grandmom. Seeing as how i have 85GIGs of mp3s i need at least 20

Thats why ive avoided ipods for so long. I don't like the trend around them. But with populartiy comes great linux support. :dunno:
