DVD-R Drive being a bastard
« on: July 19, 2007, 10:51:09 PM »
My Pioneer DVR-110D drive started to not recognise blank disks when inserted a couple days ago and now it wont recognise any disks at all. When I double click on the icon it shows an empty folder (not a no disk message) when I put ANY disk in. I reinstalled the latest drivers and updated the firmware to no avail.

Anybody know what the deal is?

I have seen this many many times.  It is almost always a dead drive.  That is bad news.  Good news is that they are relatively cheap and easy to replace.

I like my Samsung as it is fast and quiet.  Cost me about $30 to $40.  It is SATA but they make it in PATA as well.

Yeah... sounds like a dead drive to me as well.
