Lady Gaga
« on: November 28, 2011, 05:01:43 AM »
I never thought of her as someone with a lot of substance to her but boy was I wrong. All of her interviews have been superficial and her music seems to all just be about sex. She went on Stern on 7/18/11 and gave a 90 minute interview that I couldn't turn off. She explained about how she wrote "Edge of Glory" while drinking with her dad when her grandfather was dying, and how it's about his transition from life to death. Following that she played it live and it actually brought a tear to my eye. That girl can really sing her ass off and she gave an amazing interview.

I just became a serious fan.

thinking about my own grandfather, i guess these lyrics do strike a chord...
Quote
There ain't no reason you and me should be alone tonight
Yeah baby, tonight, yeah baby
I got a reason that you
Who should take me home tonight

I need a man that thinks it's right when it's all wrong tonight
Yeah baby, tonight, yeah baby
Right on the limb is where we know
We both belong tonight

It's hard to feel the rush
To brush the dangerous
I'm gonna run right to, to the edge with you
Where we can both fall far in love

I'm on the edge of glory
And I'm hanging on a moment of truth
Out on the edge of glory
And I'm hanging on a moment with you

Another shot before we kiss the other side
Tonight, yeah baby, tonight, yeah baby
I'm on the edge of something final
We call life tonight, alright, alright

Put on your shades 'cause I'll be dancing in the flames
Tonight, yeah baby, tonight, yeah baby
It isn't hell if everybody knows my name
Tonight, alright, alright

It's hard to feel the rush
To brush the dangerous
I'm gonna run right to, to the edge with you
Where we can both fall far in love

I'm on the edge of glory
And I'm hanging on a moment of truth
Out on the edge of glory
And I'm hanging on a moment with you

She explains the entire song in the interview.

Ethic, it's not made up, take 90 minutes and listen to the interview.

See, that's what I thought before the interview. You really should listen to it, it's great.

No one is willingly going to listen to a fucking 90 minute lady gaga interview, especially not a Howard stern one

Your loss. And what's wrong with HS? He has done some of the absolute best interviews in the world, and many of the live performances by musicians in his studio have become legendary.

Most of his interviews quickly go into the toilet or strippers magically appear.  He jumped the shark years ago.

And I have to agree, she can't be that interesting for 90 minutes of my time.

Depends on the interview. If thats who he is interviewing then yea, it does, but when he interviews musicians it rarely goes that way unless the artist is asking for it. Just off the top of my head for recent, great interviews:

Gaga
Chris Martin
The sound garden singer
Ben Stiller

shit i'm hitting a blank

I like her better as Stephanie. Personally I think all this "gaga" nonsense will fade over the next few years and she will become more serious, back to Stephanie. Probably even an album titled her real name. Hell in that video she is even pretty.

Damn... that's some classy, impressive shit right there.  I realize that doesn't sell as many records as 'lady gaga' but it shows raw talent.

I like her stuff.  Under either name.  She is one if the rare celebs that would, I think, be interesting to converse with.
