What is ES reading?
« on: September 27, 2009, 09:50:50 AM »
Right now I'm reading The Corner and just started Open Veins.  I recently picked up McMafia after hearing the author on the radio, but wasn't able to get into it.  Maybe I'll pick it up later.

So, whatchu reading ES?

So after a long hiatus from reading (for pleasure) I decided to start the Xanth series.  I enjoy the author and since the series is up to 30ish books I figured it would last me a while.

Funny thing is that I've been reading them on my "Kindle for iPhone" app...

I'm reading a ton for school, but not as much for fun anymore.  I have 2 books I'm working my way through though:

Beyond the Shadows (3rd in a trilogy by Bent Weeks)

A Few Seconds of Panic: A 5-Foot-8, 170-Pound, 43-Year-Old Sportswriter Plays in the NFL - very interesting...

not a book, but last night I read an article from a 1966 issue of National Geographic that I bought at a thrift store.  It was about the Gemini 6 and 7 space shuttles Rendez-vous in space for the first time and the importance of such a mission towards a future trip to the moon.  Plus it had neat pictures.

It was interesting to read because it was from a pre-moon-landing perspective.

A few weeks before the birth I started reading a "Confederacy of Dunces" - awesome read, but only got about a quarter into it and I don't know when I'll get back to it. My dad sent me three books about the history of Poland and the Slavic people (pre Christianity). I started reading one of them, but that isn't going so well either :)

I read Pierce Anthony when I was in high school. I read 5 or 6 from the Xanth world, and "A Spell for Chameleon" is still in my mind from time to time!

rofl at that title GC linked too :)

A Song of Ice and Fire series by R.R. Martin, excellent books and highly recommended, although the next book in the series is over a year late with no end in sight :(

You say that like it is a bad thing.  How many normal people do you know that write fantasy and sci-fi?

I actually haven't picked up a book in quite some time.  Sad, really.  I think the last one I started was another Stephen King book... I need something in terms of redemption of time for reading The Stand... what a horribly boring book.

Ditto.

I use my iPid Touch Kindle App all the time.  I am just about to finish the Temeraire Series fun, light reading.  I use it in boring-ass meetings, when I am waiting in a line, etc.  I prefer it to a book.
