Thanks for the pics :)  I'm surprised you have the fans hanging so low.  Any reason for that?

Ben, Costco has a very similarly looking light on sale now for $15.99 - I got 4 the other day, installed it, but it didn't work with my dimmers so I ended up returning them. Also, what do you do once the LEDs stop working? Looks like you have to replace the entire light

Jake:
I lied, they are 19.99 https://www.instagram.com/p/Bo42oFygqWT/

When we brew...

One burner for heating water.  Consistently needed throughout the process.
Two burners for heating the wort, in that we brew two batches simultaneously.

Got another in the grill.

The light I noted and plan to install myself provides double the light output and the more the better in the garage, also the dispersal is better due to the design.  The lights you have picked out look nicer though and might be something I would use for the house interior.

The fans are high enough that I have to really stretch to touch them but low enough to feel.  I didn't want them in the way but low enough to annoy insects.  It keeps them out of the garage for the most part.  Also makes the light kits and fan blades serviceable/cleanable without a ladder.

Jake.  I have yet to see an LED light fail.  Have you?  Dimming with LEDs is a pain.  They actually make dimmer switches designed for modern lighting.  I need to get those installed throughout our house.

ober:
@Jake, yes, you have to replace the light if it fails but the rated life is so long on them that I'm not really concerned about it.  The ones at costco seem similar but not exactly the same.  And as Knuck said, getting them to work on a dimmer is not as easy.  I know they make dimmers specific for LEDs.  I have 6 of the lights that I linked to in my basement and I thought I was wiring 2 of them up before I realized that they REALLY didn't want to work with the dimmer that I had.  So I just took the dimmer out and they worked fine.  Not that we NEEDED a dimmer down there in the current configuration but it was nice.

@knuck - thanks for the explanation.  Your setup makes a ton of sense.  You obviously use your garage for a lot of stuff.  Keep in mind that I don't really do any maintenance work on my cars and I keep most of the yard stuff in the shed in the backyard.  And you are right that more light in the garage is key and that's a good reason to consider an alternative.  The lights I got are definitely probably made more for interior stuff but I figured with the ceiling height I have in the garage and the amount of light that they throw that it might be enough.  Then again, I'm still waiting for the existing lights to die.  And the only time I really hate them is in the winter when they don't want to come on very well when it gets super cold.
