Nope, once you sell it, you're legally tied to actually selling it (to someone... whether that be your girlfriend or your "friend" who happens to have the same first and last name, address, and similar but different email address.)

Sorry, I should have been more clear: once you POST it, you're legally binded to sell it. I think there are only a handful of reasons an item can be pulled before the auction ends.

I recently pulled an auction myself - it hadn't received any bids yet.
It was for software but after posting, I realized it was software that belonged to my company and that I didn't have the license to transfer.
I still had to pay the ebay fees, but they easily allowed me to cancel the auction.

Wow... I have no idea how buying the second one from the scalper for $1800 could have ever made any sense. Looks like the scalper was the smart one.
