Wii homebrew
« on: August 26, 2008, 12:27:28 AM »
Anyone else do this to their Wii yet? I just "hacked" mine tonight and it went fine, but I'm having trouble getting any NES roms working. I keep getting checksum errors.  :(
I've tried to download them from other sites but none of them do the trick.

Anyone get any ROMs working yet? I need to augment my WiiChannel games with some of my old ones that aren't available yet.

OK, now that's almost 2am. After hours of research and trying to fix ROMs etc, installing the SULOKU version of FCEU works pretty well. I'm able to use the wiimote and play the roms.

This just made my Wii even more awesome.

Now get to it guys.

If you need any help, let me know.

That's not Homebrew that's Piracy. Man, they're $5 from the
Virtual Console. Nintendo's going to brick your Wii

I'm OK, ethic. I'm being a good boy and only playing the games I own. And like I said, only the games they don't have available on the virtual console.  I haven't had a big issue with paying $5 for Zelda and tecmo bowl, ice hockey and a couple others, but they're missing some crucial games on there.

I'm actually considering trying to write a game too. The Wii is in bad need of an ice hockey game me thinks. Could be fun to get back into the non-enterprise programming stuff again.

Now I think you just have to be careful about not upgrading the WiiMenu when the blue light comes on without checking the Wiibrew website first to make sure it doesn't disable your homebrew channel. The last time it looks like they had a fix within days though and I'm guessing it will continue to be like that.

I downloaded the SDK and was going to start playing with it. Sounds pretty easy but we'll see.
