Wii Homebrew Started
« on: August 31, 2008, 07:46:53 PM »
Well, I've been working on my wiibrew chops this weekend and while it's been fun, it gives me headaches to go back to programming in C/C++. The tools are pretty good but it's a labor intensive process for sure. You've got the basic libraries to do lots of cool stuff but it brings back those early days of programming and trying to do sprites and OpenGL stuff.

I'm taking suggestions for game ideas. I'm thinking of trying to get something network based too where I could make a desktop version too so someone could play from their PC against people on Wii's. I really don't understand why game companies don't allow that for things like guitar hero and stuff where all the platforms have the same games.

Sorry ethic, your game will have to wait. After talking with one of my friends I got inspiration for a great Wii game.

Lawn Darts.

That's right, the game that's been outlawed in some countries. I figure it would actually make a pretty good Wii game because it can be multi-player and utilize the Wiimote features pretty well. Other games could fork off the engine too, like bocce ball, horseshoes, etc.

Follow up games should include dwarf tossing and gnome punting.
