Is there any site that lists web-safe fonts, and/or font names which shows the text in that particular font?
Or should I just scroll through a font list in word to find fonts which I like?
Thanks

Download Top Style, the lite version.. it narrows it down to most fonts that are on most people's computers. If you don't use one of the basic ones, it will default to something else, possibly screwing up the display.
You could also look into MS's attempt at packaging fonts for use on websites (can't remember the name of that package tho). I've used it and it creates about an 18k file for each font that you want to use, and your users would be required to download it (I don't think there is any interaction). The only downside is the increased loadtime on dialup connections.
