Historical Figures Draft Tournament - Round 1
« on: October 14, 2009, 05:37:13 PM »
Time for the Deserted Island Historical Figures Draft Tournament. I used the randomizer to randomly select seeds from 1-9:

Playoff Seeds (Draft Order in Parentheses)

  • drakkenkorin (6)
  • micah (8)
  • JaWiB (5)
  • ober (4)
  • Duwenbasden (3)
  • kermi3 (1)
  • charlie (2)
  • axon (7)
  • PJYelton (9)

The idea is to vote for your favorite collection of historical figures. Pick one list for each matchup (one for each color). You can use any rationale you like for making your votes. You can vote for yourself.

Since we have 9 entrants there will be a "play-in" match between the randomly selected bottom two teams, in this case axon and PJYelton. I also included some first round matchups so we can spread out the voting a little. The poll expires in 4 days.

(I'll post the individual lists below to refresh your memory...)

sorry for not making all the picks guys - been kind of busy and I didn't want to pick just anybody.

But damn, even I had to vote for PJY - great list.

Jawib and Ober for the other two.

Err... why was voting locked by an administrator?

ober pulling stunts again? :p

Or maybe somebody accidentally voted for both people in the same matchup?

Geez, axon vs PJ is a hard choice. Axon has two great artists I like (Picasso and Dalí) while PJ has some great scientists. They also seemed to have cut Hemingway in half and shared him as a choice (or is there a mistake in the summaries ;) )

Ack! PJ picked him in round 9 after axon picked him in round 7 and nobody noticed. I'll leave him in both lists this time since voting already started but Hemingway will have to be deleted next round. Sorry about that everybody.

Actually next round it won't matter since either axon or PJ will be gone, so there will only be one Hemers on the board.

Yeah... but I don't want to start the voting over and I don't want to change the voting halfway through. If anybody cares I can make a different decision (but I have a feeling nobody cares).

By the way, can an admin fix the poll when you get a chance? Thanks!

oopsie, didn't notice Hemmingway had been taken.  I'm ok with just losing a pick, or if I'm allowed to pick again can I replace with Jack Kerouac?
