Title: Super Bowl
Post by: charlie on February 03, 2008, 07:02:18 PM
Game over...

If the Giants don't get touchdowns, they don't win.
Title: Re: Super Bowl
Post by: charlie on February 03, 2008, 07:12:07 PM
Pass interference in the end zone... shocking. Both teams have 3rd an 10 from inside the 20, one fails and the other ends up with 1st and goal at the 1.
Title: Re: Super Bowl
Post by: charlie on February 03, 2008, 07:14:08 PM
1st quarter over: Game is just like all the other near losses for the Patriots... slow, grinding, long drives for both teams... Patriots get touchdowns and their opponent gets field goals.

Commercial comments:

Dell: I wouldn't actually mind buying that Dell, but the commercial wasn't so great... plus it ripped off the GOAT super bowl ad.

Bud Light (Fire): Typical Bud... funny enough. They've been doing the same thing for 20 years, though.

Under Armour:

Diet Pepsi MAX: WTF? Was the point that they could make a commercial that makes you nod off just like the people in it?

Unhitched (TV Show): Yeah, I lick food off my kid too.

Wanted: Ok, I'd watch that. If you missed it, it's a movie or something with Angelina Jolie and some other stuff.

Damn... Burress is shaky. Bobbled his first catch and dropped his second, just like the NFC championship game.

3rd down inside the 20 for the Giants and they fail to convert. Shocking!

I'm just gonna throw out a She-li Manning here
Title: Re: Super Bowl

fuck the pats

Yeah. I thought I might root for them to make history, but I just can't. I don't like the Giants or Eli Manning, but I don't dislike them as much as the Patriots right now.

So go Giants. :dunno:

Usually I hate stuff like that but the only thing I hate more than New York sports is Mexican soccer
Title: Re: Super Bowl

They need to rerun that one mastercard or visa commercial with Brady's O-line so they can get their powers back

Title: Re: Super Bowl

Not a lot of memorable commercials this quarter.

GM just boasted 50% better fuel mileage for an SUV. So instead of 14 mpg it gets 21. Woo hoo!
Title: Re: Super Bowl
Post by: charlie on February 03, 2008, 07:45:14 PM
Bradshaw fumbled an exchange already, and it looks like he's going to fumble again the way he carries that ball.

That cashew commercial was the worst anything
Title: Re: Super Bowl
Post by: Mike on February 03, 2008, 07:50:52 PM
Just saw that the cashew one and it sucked big time.  Yet it was still better then the charles barkley one.

The Barkley commercial was pretty funny. One of my favorites.

Cashews... meh like the rest.

First time I saw that one... I liked it.

What the hell is with Aikman's hair? Did somebody give him a noogie in the pre-game show?
Title: Re: Super Bowl
Post by: Govtcheez on February 03, 2008, 07:56:10 PM
didn't realize we were dealing with the commercial advisory board here

This game is a lot worse than I was hoping for.  I was hoping NYG would roll over and die
Title: Re: Super Bowl
Post by: charlie on February 03, 2008, 07:57:49 PM
Giants call timeout so they can get the ball back. Obviously the Patriots will get a first down and go on to score.
Title: Re: Super Bowl
Post by: charlie on February 03, 2008, 07:58:53 PM
Ooops... 1st down.

Brady doesn't look so good. He'll probably throw a 70 yard touchdown in about an hour.

They show the fav 5 commericals with him all the time here.  Of course the whole fav 5 thing is a totally crock.

This game is a lot worse than I was hoping for.
Yeah, haven't really been seeing the football I was hoping for.  Just seems kinda boring.

Well yeah (although I don't usually watch commercials), but it's the first time I've seen that one.

This game is the same as all Patriots games have been the last month or two, right? Slow, sorta boring. I guess it coulda been a blowout like Super Bowls used to be, but it's not that surprising.

Doesn't mean the Giants have much of a chance, though.

I don't dislike Tom Petty but he sounds a lot worse now then the studio stuff.  Oh and they are freakin old.  Wow.

Remember when the half time shows were actually good?
Title: Re: Super Bowl

Oh, never mind. That's just the wrinkles on his face.
Title: Re: Super Bowl

omg he is ruining Free Falling for me.  I don't think I've ever heard a worse performance of it.
Title: Re: Super Bowl
Post by: charlie on February 03, 2008, 08:22:59 PM
Ha ha... seriously. I like that song, but this sounds horrible. It doesn't help that you can't really hear it. Same with the national anthem.

A halftime show needs to pump you up and get you excited and fun. As much as I enjoy Free Falling, that doesn't quite pump you up for a rockin' good time.
Title: Re: Super Bowl

Honestly, after the Stones, anything would be an improvement.

Exactly, but it was too quiet and so it lost some of the effect. That also might have been because I have the volume way down on the TV.

I don't get it either. :dunno:

I guess when I said 11 minute drive I didn't expect the 11 game minutes to take 11 real time hours.

Meanwhile the drive continues...

Title: Re: Super Bowl

My kind of game. I just hope a mistake doesn't cost the game for somebody.
Title: Re: Super Bowl
Post by: Govtcheez on February 03, 2008, 08:54:07 PM
The whole game has been mistakes.  Eli sucks, Brady's playing like crap, and we're about 5 minutes away from Randy Moss killing someone unless he gets a ball.
Title: Re: Super Bowl
Post by: Govtcheez on February 03, 2008, 08:55:13 PM
I am impressed at Strahan and Umenyiora, though. I knew they were both great but they are really a cut above
Title: Re: Super Bowl

Title: Re: Super Bowl
Post by: Govtcheez on February 03, 2008, 09:08:40 PM
From the SA thread, "What goes through a QBs mind"

Eli Manning
"10 seconds until sack"
"Look left, look left, look right, look left"
"5 seconds until sack"
"Wheres Burress? I can't find Burress"
"Burress is wide open!"
"1 second until sack"
"Look left, look right"
"Sack."

That was awesome.

My sister was friends with him from drama. It looks like that class paid off.

I'm glad the Giants scored. I know the Patriots will still end up winning, but at least now they can earn it in a bit more of an exciting fashion.

/me crosses fingers that nothing like the Ravens game ends up giving the win to New England
Title: Re: Super Bowl
Post by: charlie on February 03, 2008, 09:28:59 PM
Wow... what a telling graphic. Patriots took the lead at 11:06 of the 4th quarter in the last game between these teams, and the Giants just took the lead at 11:05 of the 4th quarter. I'm floored.

yeah, definitely

I can't believe you guys are supporting the Giants.

Reasons to hate the Giants/support the Pats:
-Eli
-New York
-will make the 72 Fins shut the fuck up
-witnessing history
-Junior Seau gets a ring

Reasons to support the Giants:
-Peyton

Title: Re: Super Bowl
Post by: charlie on February 03, 2008, 09:40:42 PM
First, I am a 49er fan. While history is cool... it means that Brady's Patriots get close to Montana's 49ers, so there's a reason for me not to root for them.

Second, Boston area teams are no longer much better than New York area teams. Sorry.

Third, I used to like Seau (he doesn't have a ring yet?) but now I'm suspicious of steroids. It sucks, I know.

Fourth, the 72 Dolphins may suck, but I don't like the Patriots, so... :dunno:

It's close, but I've got to root for the underdog here.
