I am trying to figure out how to fit text to fill the attached shaped along the outline. any suggestions?

I seem to remember a program that would do that for you. Gotta hunt a little bit.

Maybe?

I'm using paint.net, which is similar, and I don't think what I want to do is possible with it or gimp.

off topic but, not for nothing, if you do a lot of photo editing, you can get PS and LightRoom for $10/mo
http://www.amazon.com/Adobe-Creative-Photography-Photoshop-Lightroom/dp/B00KNDCCE6/ref=sr_1_1_twi_sof_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1457627056&sr=8-1&keywords=photoshop+lightroom+subscription
which is better than the normal Adobe price of $19/mo for just 1 product (like photoshop) or the who creative suite which is at least $50/mo last I checked.

Man I can't help it if you use some obscure graphics program....
Maybe you could figure it out with Janvas? janvas.com but I can't seem to get the Text To Path tool working so...

If you give me the text, I'll create it in Illustrator for you.
