good shopping cart solution
« on: February 27, 2008, 04:28:56 PM »
I am looking for an "out of the box" e-commerce solution - preferably free but I wont hesitate to spend money for a good product that will fit my needs.

I looked at www.oscommerce.com and it seems to be fine; any other suggestions?

www.cubecart.com - blows oscommerce out of the water.  Pay for version 4, it's worth it.

also, what I want to do (which came out from that other thread) is start selling my pictures online. I'm wondering if a solution like the above is overkill? maybe just using paypal? I mean, my inventory will probably never be over a 1000 items...all of that I can manage myself. Thoughts?

I'd go with the cart... you can manage so much more around it.  And you can use paypal with it... totally up to you.  Hell, download version 3 and see if that's sufficient.  That's free at least.

www.pandsupply.com is one I just deployed (now the owner has to get his act together and put some products on it).

No shit.  What a sad little web shop.  I wouldn't even publish it until he got some products, pix, descriptions and MSDS sheets on it.

His call.  If he doesn't put the word out, I'm not worried about traffic hitting it quite yet.
