Grilled Bacon Shrimp
« on: April 25, 2007, 06:19:46 PM »
This is one i found on google last summer. It's very easy, but personally i dont use the nuts, seems kind of "out of place" to me.

BARBEQUE SHRIMP

1 lbs. shrimp, med.
1 lb. bacon
1 can sliced water chestnuts
K-C barbecue sauce
skewers

Soak skewers in warm water for about 1 hour. (this prevents them from burning during cooking,) Cut pound of bacon in half. Cook until it is limp. Peel and wash shrimp. Drain. Place shrimp on cutting board, one at a time, curled tight and in rows of six. Place 1 water chestnut on each shrimp. Wrap with one bacon and put on skewer. Brush with barbecue sauce. Cook on barbecue grill until bacon is done.

hmm. Never tried this, but i imagine it would work.

Pre-cook shrimp (anyway you choose, really. Just a basic boil or something). Pre-cook bacon to just before where u want it. This is just so that when we do the BBQ side of it, its already cooked and we dont have to worry about much more than sealing flavor.

Then make the skewer's like you would for the grill, and smother them in the BBQ sauce just the same. Now wrap each one in tinfoil, and stick it in the oven. This would be more of a bake then a grill, but it would be just about the same i imagine.

Also a good idea. With the second method i put down u dont get that "grilled" flavor, but you will still get the BBQ flavor.

The water chestnuts sound good with it.

Yea a few people have said that. I cook this alot when we are at the shore house, and it has been discussed a few times. I'm not too big on nuts, but to put them with seafood isnt really for me. To each his own :)
