Title: Terry Brooks
Post by: stealth on June 27, 2007, 08:22:45 PM
Anyone into him? Or is he really shit and not worth bothering with? Looking for a decent fantasy epic, he seems ok from the pages I've read here and there.

His best by far IMO was Elfstones of Shanara.  Awesome battles and cool badies.

He came to my high school once, but I didn't go see him since I've never read any of his books

A lot of reviews I'm reading seem to really get their teeth into this book and tear it to shreds.  Hmmm..I have also been looking at George R.R. Martin's "Song of Fire and Ice" series as a purchase.  I'm also starting in on some of the Drenai series by David Gemmell's "Dreai" books...spec. Waylander...it's really good.

Or is he really shit and not worth bothering with?

His books are best described - in the words of Edmund Blackadder - as 'soft, strong and very, very absorbent'.
