New Computer
« on: December 10, 2006, 04:21:56 PM »
I had my old computer for about 5 years, so I thought it was time to get a new one.. so I decided to build one.  I wanted to spend around $1400 - $1500 excluding monitor, and not necessarily a gaming machine, but I wanted to at least be able to play some of the newer games.  Im not much of a gamer..

The Specs:

Antec - Sonata II Mid Tower Case (Black)
Western Digital Caviar 400GB SATA hard drive
ASUS P5B Motherboard
LG DVD Burner
Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 2.13GHz
XFX GeForce 7900GS 256MB Video Card
OCZ 5400 2GB Dual Channel Value Ram
AUS My Cinema-P7131 TV Tuner

Fist time Ive ever built a machine, and it went pretty smoothly.  Got all the parts I was looking for, so Im pretty pleased with it :)

Hey man.

Nice case.  Quiet, has a filter, and 120 mm fans.  Been using them for years.

That's a pretty solid setup... whats your CAS latency on the RAM?  The word "value" scares me a little.

Yeah, its really quiet, and the power supply fans turn on only when necessary.. I dont think Ive had them turn on yet.

Here is a link to the RAM I got

Its the lower end of OCZ memory.. still quite expensive :|

Yeah.  Ober is right.  Really kinda weak RAM.  I would at least get set of copper heat spreaders for the stuff.  I run CAS 2 and ober runs 2.5 and we can see a noticable and significant difference even with those two.

But ya gots what ya gots.  Helps you don't game.

Hey ober.  Get that email?
