I dropped by a nearby music shop after an interview I had this afternoon and played a few guitars while I was there. One of the ones that caught my eye right away was a Seagull MJM6 or mini jumbo with laminated mahogany sides and back (which looked great) and a solid spruce top. I was really impressed with how the guitar played and felt. The sound wasn't half bad either. It had a nice balance to it, lacking just a bit of low end for my taste though but otherwise quite nice. I think this model has become my new favorite from their line. I'm thinking that it would sound very nice with electronics installed and perhaps a tad thicker guage string on the bass (or a bit of EQ). And for under $500, I'd recommend it as an option for someone looking for a budget guitar.
