Topic: can't believing i'm stooping to this.... I need a template!

I need to make a website for a band. Mostly static pages.  I am good with HTML/CSS layout but I suck at graphic design. They've given me almost no direction on how it should look but I've been putting it of for a while and now I need to get it done asap.

I just don't have the time, or will, to come up with a sharp looking website.  They're a group of 50-year-old liberal farts who play their original music and covers in a pot-smoking rock style (think, the Eagles meet Dave Matthews)

anyway, although I've swarn I'd never do this... I NEED A TEMPLATE!  something thats all pretty and layed out for me that I can just plop some content into and add a few extra applications.

Any Suggestions?

if you need help making one, i could use a little cash on the side. Easiest way i found when im doing them in a hurry is to just make a jpeg for each page and use some quick html map code to make the links. I do that for myspace div layouts because its 100 times faster.

yeah, i went with oswd.org. good call 

i downloaded a template i liked but it had way to many "features" so I still ended up spending a couple hours rebuilding it from scratch to look the way i wanted it to.  In the end, still better then wasting my time coming up with something on my own.

LOL!  I wouldn't blame you if you did.  rest assured, there will be no auto-playing on my watch.

Instead of running the maroon menu bar behind the image of the band i would move the band image over flush to the right side, then run the menu bar into its left side and stop. To give a finished look you could put a thin maroon border around the image or something, but thats just me.

I like it. The only thing that bothers me is the music player. I think it should be wider to match with the picture and tour dates. The text wrapping underneath it makes it look lonely. There's just too much padding around it.
So either ditch the text wrapping below or make it wider.

I agree, it does look a little odd there with all that padding. Once i get some real content from them to put on the homepage, i'll figure it out a little better.

i agree.  They didn't give me much in the way of source material so i didn't give them much back in the way of "good looks" -- it does look kind of blah, huh.  any suggestions to make it more "musicy" ???

Get a pic of them at a live gig.  Or throw some pictures of instruments around.
