Topic: If you could express yourself through lyrics...

My roommates in college did this thing one semester when we got back from break and I thought it was kickass.  One of my friends was a DJ so he had a shitload of CDs, so one at a time, we all went through the CDs and picked out pieces of songs that explained our summers.

This latest [NIN] cd has a LOT of great clips I'd love to take out and scream at people sometimes:

"Why do you get all the love in the world?"
"There is no fucking you, there is only me!"
"She turns me on, she makes me real"

He's a fucking genius with words, man.  Not that any of that is "ground-breaking" or anything and I know I've left out some of the better ones... but I wish I could look at certain people sometimes and have audio clips flow out my eyeballs or something.

I think I'm in love with Trent Reznor.

??  A better sense of myself?  Why?  Because I like the way other people put words together??  I just like pissed off music sometimes.  It's my way of venting to the world when I feel like I don't fit in.

to clarify my post, i meant i agree with the idea of listening to music that expresses yourself, i just don't like nin as much as most people.

When you've had a shit day there's nothing more relieving than cranking some loud music.  Every genre has it's purpose and unique expression - I wouldn't play Mozart's 40th when I'm angry, just as I wouldn't play the Downward Spiral when I'm in a good mood.
