I was gonna come post about this yesterday but I was too at a loss. Of seriously be willing to pay a few bucks a month for this. Sucks. Gonna wait a month and then start looking for an alternative
govtcheez03:  i kind of look for it - i seek out stupidity and annoy it until it either gets better, gets banned, or goes away on its own

I felt that way about iGoogle.  Though for the most part NetVibes is better.

Good luck finding a happy replacement!

I was so pissed about this!  I spent probably 45 minutes looking for alternatives.  NetVibes has a reader function but so far I don't like it.  Feedly was down so I couldn't try it and some of the others seem to be for mobile/tablet only.  WHY IS GOOGLE SHUTTING THIS DOWN?  It's perfect for how I want to use it!

Yeah, what all you guys said.

Tried Feedly but that didn't work. Was gonna try NetVibes to replace iGoogle and Reader at the same time.

Speaking of iGoogle, I just recently replaced it in my browsing habits. I no longer use Firefox for personal browsing and am on Chrome full time. Instead of iGoogle as my home page I use Awesome New Tab Page and Checker Plus for GMail. It's not perfect but it's alright. We'll see how I tweak it as time goes on, or if I just switch to NetVibes.

NetVibes is fine at home, work slows it and causes issues with loading and updating.  Overall I would give it 7/10.  The stock and market watch tools suck.

Bookmarks is AWESOME.  Gmail integration is nice.  It is very configurable though setup is clunky.

Yeah, this and iGoogle is a big wtf for me. Most of the people in my lab just started using reader for journal articles...

Using Feedly now... they must be loving that Google's ending reader. It's ok, but not ideal.

I've been using Newsify on mobile for a long time. I'm hoping I can keep using it even after it can't sync to google reader anymore.

So... oh modern users of technicalology, what should rss feed reader readers be doing instead?

yeah, when I heard the news I was like "oh no, first my favorite BBS went down and participation in my usenet group is really dropping off and now this!"
"I possess a device, in my pocket, that is capable of accessing the entirety of information known to man.  I use it to look at pictures of cats and get in arguments with strangers."
